Music controls on lock screen is now permanent, double clicking does nothing. The only way to see time again is to pause the music.

Can anyone comment on general performance, responsiveness, and especially animation speed when launching apps from the homescreen?

On my iPhone 5, general performance and responsiveness is noticeably better. Not quite up to iOS 6 levels, but still a good step forwards. App launching from the home screen is smoother, but the timing of the animation is still a bit longer than it was in iOS 6. Returning to the home screen from the multitasking screen is MUCH smoother, returning to individual apps is improved, but not quite as much.

All in all, good progress. Not bad for the second beta.

pull from right to left on a message in message.app...shows a time stamp.

finally!!!!

the implementation is a little messy, they could block some of the up down movement when pulling for timestamps so the conversation doesn't look like it's going all over the place, but this is definitely something I've waited YEARS for.

Interestingly, I had a third party lightening cable that i bought at tmobs. Charged the phone fine in beta1. Wont do so in beta2.

Not sure if this has been mentioned yet but wallpaper is more blurred out in the background of Safari's "tab flow" (whatever it's called). Too bad, I kinda liked the Beta 1 look better.

Super yay.

iPhone 4 has a transparent dock now. It looked SO ****** before, and I didn't buy for a second that my iPhone 4 could handle the reflective dock but not a simple semi-transparent rectangle.

That's a GREAT song you're listening to.
Another fix I found: proximity sensor works WAY better. I'm speaking as someone who uses runtastic's training apps.

Facing a serious lag issue wherever the keyboard input is concerned... Phone gets unresponsive for ten seconds and then types all that I put in together... Anyone else facing this...? Need serious help...!

I do not believe that dialog is provided by the OS.

I guess we'll have to wait and see if it comes up in another app. In iOS 6 it always looked the same in all apps, and even in iOS 7 until beta 2. I think it's a new feature to give users an easier way to contact devs rather than leave a bad review. Makes sense to me.
