idk why people are "surprised" by this..i was waiting for it. we know beta 4 was a week late, so now beta 5 came 1 week(+1 day) after beta 4 in order to stay on that 2 week schedule(so now its the same as if that dev center hacking never happened, they compensated for it by forcing beta 5 out now instead of next monday).

Come on. You're trying to tell us that you knew this was coming today, right? even though Apple hasn't released a beta on a day other than Monday since sometime during iOS 5 beta if I remember correctly. ok...
And what do you mean they forced beta 5 out? There is no schedule they need to follow other than their own. They released beta 5 when it was ready. I don't understand why people make such a big deal about this.

in iMessage, I seem to have reverted back to the thinner font.

Just checked mine after installing and it is still the same "thicker" font (Regular) that beta 3 introduced. I prefer the beta 1&2 font (Light) but it looks like it's probably gonna be gone forever :(

Just noticed that parallax feature in safari when sorting through tabs. Not sure if this was there in previous betas, but I think it's cool!

The one main 'missing' feature I hope is in the gm is instant replies to messages.

i have an iPhone 5 with b5 just installed.

I have just switched it off and back on and it took about 3 minutes for the phone to boot up. just stayed on the Apple boot logo for 3 minutes the eventually fired up.

Can someone else switch the phone off and back on to see if it is just mine.

If so I will do a full clean install.

Thank you :)

iPad 4 almost 3 minutes
iPhone 5 about a minute

Can someone post a picture of the call screen when Mute is activated?

I am on conference calls 1/2 the day and couldn't ever tell when I was on mute because it was a slight background highlight. This was the main reason I went back to iOS6.

It seems like the spotify bug was fixed. I can now use the volume buttons without the app crashing.

Seems to be much easier to tell.

I seem to have lost all transparency after updating. Everything that is supposed to be transparent (Dock, lock screen, folders, etc.) is solid grey.

Tried rebooting, both soft and hard to no avail.

Any suggested remedies other than a fresh install?

Reset Settings?

I think there is some option in Accessibility or somewhere to make it easier for people with vision problems to read the phone... Check there.

That happened to me once in an earlier beta... I just went into wallpaper settings, picked the same one, and that seemed to fix it.

Delight!! It was because I had the increased contrast turned on for some reason. Thanks tons!

5 Betas in and the Music app still sorts albums by track only (multi-disc albums appear in this order: 1,1,1,2,2,2,3,3,3,etc).
That's not true, at least for me. If the metadata is entered correctly with track # of ## and disc # of ##, disc # displays in track order before disc #+1, disc #+2, etc. I have confirmed this in both the Album view and the Artist view.

Overall VERY responsive so far, feels close to release quality on my iPhone 5. Also on the iPhone 4 it's very well usable right now.

And as a minor improvement, my long carrier name no longer runs into the "pull-down-bar" on the lockscreen (Beta 4 is the blueish one).
Where can I get the second background? :)

This beta works way smoother than beta 4 thank God, no reboots, no shutting down of apps, all my apps work fine, and the new icons in settings are nice. Still can't resize wallpaper for the lock or homescreen though, hope that gets fixed.

A few more updates I've noticed:

- Date picker now has a blur effect
- Much easier to get into camera from lock screen, you can swipe up from outside of the screen.
