Low and behold I was shocked as iOS 6.1.3 was lucky for 7 hours with little standby

I feel awfull.. I'm on iPhone 4 GSM iOS7 beta 5..
I don't think this is normal.. I understand that this is still beta but i'm honestly thinking about getting back to iOS 6 with 7h usage..
Any suggestions, help, simething I could do? (All iOS 7 features are off).

I've noticed a big increase from beta 4 to 5.. that being said, still seems slightly worse than iOS 6.

What's the problem here? That's quite a bit of standby, and if you have things like push notifications, or use facebook, the battery will drain even if you're not actively using your phone.

I'm getting better battery life than I was on iOS 6. I'm impressed with this beta.

I'm really hoping they keep this up for the GM.

My battery life still needs to get way better. Iphone 4s 32gb.

I'm having fairly decent battery life on iOS 7, really impressed for a beta! The GM and the consumer release will have great battery life it looks like!

So far the battery life on beta 5 has been almost stunning!

Standby 12hrs, 36min
Usage 5 hrs, 8 minutes

50% Battery life left. I used the phone the same way I always do throughout the day: email, twitter, surfing. Normally I would be around 35% at this time (8:34pm)

I really hope that's for an iPhone 4.

My iP5:

Standby: 15 hrs, 26 min
Usage: 5hrs, 26min

IOS6, 80% battery left. Yes, EIGHTY PERCENT. That's with 2-3 bars LTE & a wifi connection. Mostly email, with a little web surfing (However, it does sometime go much lower, as the LTE signal can be pretty spotty, here.)

B4 was terrible for me and b5 has been much better. I wouldn't bother doing a clean install as throughout all my iOS beta testing I've found it doesn't matter. Sometimes battery life is worse, sometimes it's incredibly good no matter which way you install it. I always stick with OTA now as a convenience to myself unless something goes terribly wrong.

Yeah, I am experiencing a nicer battery life with Beta 5 as well. See the screen. Impressive!

i would consider this acceptable. i was able to get anywhere between 8-10 hrs of use, 1 and a half days of standby on ios 6. the way it looks now on ios 7 is more like 4-6 hrs of use. definitely needs some work. and im almost certain the weather app updates in the background every 5 minutes even with baground refresh off. ive left the phone perfectly idle and unused for days and somehow racked up almost 2 hrs of use over a 3 day period. and this is a bare bones installed iphone 4 with 7 beta 5 with no apps installed.

Easily getting 3 days with light usage and push notifications all day. Background app refresh is off because its not really important to me and a few location services (Like Weather and other system apps) are off. This could be our peak but who knows what they will do for GM.

I am not getting good performance on b5

I have all the recommended settings in place and had done OTA update to b5. #

Mine is so much better

This may even be better than iOS 6 for me. I did a clean install of Beta 5 without restoring from a backup. This is awesome!!!!

On my iPhone 4S I'm at 47% at 11:45pm EST going from a full charge this morning at 6am. I'm on iOS 7 beta 5.

Usage: 2 hours & 4 minutes
Standby: 18 hours & 17 minutes

Question though. I always try to run the battery from full charge to empty before recharging. Is that necessary? As I mentioned I'm at 47% now (11:45pm) but I usually don't last another full day on less then 50%. How often do I need to go from full to empty before recharging? I want to get the maximum length of time with each charge and I feel if I plug it in before it hits 0% and shuts off that it could ruin the battery memory long term.

Actually, you should avoid letting it go all the way down with a lithium battery. Just charge it whenever you can.

Really?? I thought rechargeable batteries some sort of memory in it. I've always been told when I've purchased an Apple product to charge it too full, run it to 0% and charge it up to full again. Then to do that again at least every so often. Like you have to "train" the battery to know what's "full" and what's "empty" to get the longest charge. Maybe I'm thinking of older types of batteries.

EDIT: Found this on Apple's "Batteries" page regarding the iPhone. http://www.apple.com/ca/batteries/iphone.html

"Use iPhone Regularly
For proper maintenance of a lithium-based battery, it’s important to keep the electrons in it moving occasionally. Be sure to go through at least one charge cycle per month (charging the battery to 100% and then completely running it down)."
