That's to be expected! iOS is in bet.... Oh wait a minute.

So you are telling me that bugs aren't just time based and don't disappear because it's called a GM? Who would have thought that bugs actually need to be fixed.

I'm glad that "It's a beta" people get to eat their hat though. Clearly people with no understanding of software development.

Changing wallpaper takes 8 seconds on iPad 4 (I used a stopwatch). Unbelievable.

EDIT: this is a clean DFU install. No backup.

Just to clarify also, I have the aforementioned issues on my 4th gen and I did a DFU restore and set up as new.

I don't think it's a matter of restoring or not. I did both an update followed by a DFU restore and the poor performance subsided.

It's a problem as simple as "iOS 7 for iPad wasn't ready for release".

1) it's not optimised for iPad
2) it doesn't take advantage of the screen and is basically an up scaled version of the iphone version.

Don't get me wrong, I absolutely love it on my iphone 5 and everything works amazing, but my iPad 4 feels like a 2nd rate tablet 6 years old.

What about boot time vs beta 5 & 6 which were extra slow to boot up on the ipad ? . . .

This ^^^^^^^^ x 1000. Apple dropped the ball on the iPad version of iOS 7 plain and simple. No excuses. No more its a beta crap. No more its a .0 release. These are glaring issues and missteps.

I may roll my ipad back to ios 6 tomorrow... It's gonna look weird going back to it, but ios 7's performance is just excruciating to watch.
Surely this is a very 1st world problem, but until it's properly ironed I don't think it is a good upgrade.

What worries me is not knowing for certain how much optimisation apple will do to it as that would mean acknowledging failure...

Worry not, apple will release the iPad 5 soon and it will run ios 7 perfectly. As for optimizing it on our "old" iPads? Don't even think about it. Apple wants you to buy a new iPad instead.

I just got my very first iPad this Sunday and I have been anxious to put iOS 7 on it, since I enjoy it so much on my phone. There has been surprisingly little info on iOS 7 on iPad and maybe all these issues are why. Apple seems to rarely mention iOS 7 and iPad in the same sentence.

After reading this thread, I think I may wait, as much as I might want to try iOS 7 on iPad.

My guess is that there will be an update of iOS7 as soon as the new iPads are released. Apple has most likely kept some iPad improvements out of the GM for now, because they don't want to tip their hand to what the new iPads are going to offer.

My 4 works fine, although I've not been using it much lately, so I might be missing some glaring issues.

I just rolled back to ios 6 this afternoon. What a breath of fresh air. Everything is super fast again and smooth as butter. I'll admit I do miss the home screen look of ios 7 but as soon as you try to do something or open some of the half baked apps, it's an "ughhh" inducing nightmare.

That's BS since it runs perfectly fine on my iPhone 4S that's half as powerful as an iPad 4. Those excuses aren't gonna work.

Nails it. The iPad versions are an afterthought and simply aren't ready for a mainstream release. I'm sure they will get some love now that iOS7 is pretty much solid on iPhone, but it really wouldn't hurt pushing the release for iPads forward until they've reached that point. Say, at with the release of iPads in October.

They will catch a lot of flack for releasing this in this unfinished state.

ios 7 GM is terrible on iPhone 4

I downloaded the ios 7 GM file today on my iphone 4 and it runs pretty ok..until i tried using my onscreen keyboard. Anywhere I try to type is extremely laggy and completely unusable. If you have an iPhone 4 don't get the GM. I plan to downgrade back to ios 6 soon.

sooooooooo can we no longer set wallpapers from our own images?

I took a pic of the mountains I want to use but it keeps forcing me to zoom like so far in. I try to pinch out and it goes back, or freezes and crashes.:confused:

Sounds like fun
or not really.

Honestly, I kind of miss the looks of ios 7 on some of its ipad GUI, but rolling back to ios 6 was the best thing i could have done, performance wise.

I must be blessed by the lord saviour Jesus Christ because i have hadn't really had anything much go wrong with the i0S GM. Its been pretty stable.

That's because OP is using iOS GM, whereas you're using i0S GM.

This is precisely why I'm sticking to Jailbroken 6.1.2 for the foreseeable future; at least until a few updates are released to fix iOS7.

IOS7 on iPad 4.

I carried ou a wireless upgrade to IOS7. I have numerous issues. It is a lot slower than IOS6, it crashes frequently (particularly in safari), Vimeo often doesn't play movies, I can't get Safari to go back to the previous ŵeb page by swiping left to right. And much more.

I have also noticed the delays with the keyboard and other problems others have mentioned.

I also have problems with IOS7 on my iPhone 4.

I am sure all these issues shall be resolved with time.
