If you need to "figure out" Date/Month/Year, you have more to worry about than iOS 7.

I think it's more t do with the bold appearance of the old which was instantly recognisable, to some faint, weak and rather gay.

A lot of the time the new fonts are grey on white. If you need a function phone for serious use then you want the bold simple approach, or if you and a bit.... artsy they you'll fully 'appreciate' the new experience.

I enjoy it and think it's quite the upgrade on screen real-estate and aesthetics but thanks for sharing your opinion.

Please elaborate on "serious use".

As a business user, where you need things like phone, contacts, sms and email to work flawlessly, and other features like alarms, camera, pictures to be quick, easy and efficient.

If you travel long haul a lot, then between jetlag and general lack of sleep, your brain can turn to mush and become stupid, eyes sore and tired.

It's still that same dial just transparent, but is still the same dial shape and movement

If you want to look at it that way than iOS 7 is the same as iOS 6. Icons still do the same thing, we still have back buttons but yet half the people on these forums are moaning about how it has changed.

I'm not looking at it one way or another, the thing is still a dial period, they didn't change it. Its just a crappy dial that is not an improvement over the old one, same can be said of the now some transparent buttons, sure they are still there transparently in many things, but is not as intuitive as before. Don't get me wrong I don't mind iOS7, is just meh white paint cover over 'old' stuff, not really renovated. Might impress some (hell, it fooled you into thinking it wasn't a dial lol) that haven't used the OS as much, but us that had we know it's just a superficially done job.
It's just a fast and rushed job where in some functions it is now worse than before (ex. calendar: no preview in today and many other things).

Just upgrade to iOS 7, you'll like it very quickly. Might as well start getting used to change because you can't stay behind forever.

I'd give it a chance, except whenever I switch to ios 7 I can't go back if I don't up liking it. So I'm sticking with ios 6 until there's some compelling reason to switch.

I actually thought that with IOS7's minimalistic approach that the size of the OS would be smaller and would provide a huge improvement in speed. Its like trimming out the fat from IOS6 and focusing only on the essentials. Given that IOS7 is supposed to be more efficient than IOS6 I also expected a huge improvement in battery life. It does not seem so, reading the battery drain threads in IOS7.

I have an iPad 3 that will stay on 5.1.1 because it runs smooth and is stable. I recently upgraded my iPad 2 with iOS 7 and I like a lot of the things it does but it needs work and the UI has many inconsistencies. Too much white and the fonts are smaller and blend in with the UI where sometimes it gets lost. I tried the bold fonts and while it helps it's not as good as the fonts used before iOS 7.

The keyboard used in Safari should be the dark color and not the white. I do like the new selection of wallpapers which look really nice with the motion effect.

In short iOS 7 is not nearly as bad as it's made out to be from a UI standpoint but it needs more time in the oven. Someone summed up iOS 7 best on another forum, you would never have thought iOS 7 was made by Apple.

My biggest beef with iOS 7 are the frequent crashes using Safari, Settings, and apps.

If you don't wanna update, that's up to you obviously, but you can't stay on iOS 6 forever. Eventually your device will get left behind.

Trust me, I used to be just like you. I didn't want anything to do with iOS 7. I was actually worried that I would be stuck with my iPhone 4 forever, but I updated to see what the fuss was about. Thought it was pretty weird at first and it's quite a jarring jump from what iOS 6 was, but once you use it on a daily basis, it's my preferred OS now.

It's insane how much I was not a fan at first and I truly think it's a masterpiece now.

It's true that human nature resists change.

It's sort of like when you test the water of the pool and at first you're like "It's too cold! I'm not going to like this!" and it may shock your system a bit at first, but once you get in, you don't wanna get out because it feels so nice.

People dont have the choice once Apple stops signing previous versions of IOS. I agree it should be my choice, and I should be able to stay on ios6 as long as I want. But I cannot do so if I cannot restore to IOS 6.

Whenever I see the photo-realistic icons now, it just looks really silly for some reason. The whole interface before iOS 7 just looks cheesy to me now.

iOS 7 has a modern look and feel to it. Like I said earlier, the interface isn't really much there anymore... it's the content that shines and the interface just gets out of your way.

I don't miss the old UI at all anymore. iOS 7 just works and it works well. It sort of just clicks with me as I use my iPhone, I don't feel like I'm tapping buttons, it feels like I'm just getting to the content that I REALLY care about.

Oh, and I can't get over how awesome swiping between pages is. It's that kind of thing that would kill me if I went back to iOS 6.

Are you an Apple shill?

"IOS 7 has a modern look" says who?

Its looks like a toy. I am all for simplified but this is just ridiculous.

Interesting design choices. The concept of a physical "button", something technology introduced hundreds of years ago, was portrayed beautifully in iOS < 7.0. Rounded, clearly labeled, and ubiquitous. You knew what it was, what it would do if you pressed it, and "felt" its presence without having to look for it.

Enter iOS 7.0. Buttons are now text. In order to use them, you basically have to read everything on the screen and then "figure out" which text represents actionable UI elements.

So, in rethinking iOS into a "modern" look, Ive and his team looked to 1996 for inspiration.

I like the picture on the left visually more pleasing it also acts like a scrolling canister which is cool to use vs no color on the right for picking your date.

Are you a compulsive anti apple...? Or an android shill...?

It looks like a toy and is ridiculous says who...? I love the new look... iOS 6 was good and all but was just stale now after 6 years...

I completely agree.

The interface in iOS 6 looks really bad now. The glossy buttons look dated. The aqua elements look dated. Nobody uses that shiny gloss effect anymore... it's over-used and outdated. I like the minimalistic approach they've taken with iOS 7 by just using plain text instead of buttons and they use elegant and simple icons.

I thought I'd have a hard time adjusting, but it didn't take more than a couple of days.

Trust me... I resisted so hard to change to iOS 7. I hated it when they announced it and I even thought about switching brands because it sucked so bad, but looking at it and using it are 2 different things. Once I realized how much I like the new OS, I also started liking the interface design as well. It grew on me and now the old interface of iOS 6 and earlier looks old fashioned and stale.

The reason I made this thread is for people who are resisting change without giving iOS 7 a try. Just try it out for a few days and you'll adjust and you may even prefer it afterwards.

In summary, for the most part new things are good because they are new, and old things are bad because we are used to them. Those are sure some definitions of "good" and "bad".

So according to you, we should stay stuck with old things forever because they are good and never move forward to better things... Ok... So we should have stayed with the Nokia 6600, it was such a brilliant phone or the pentium processors, they were a generation ahead at their time or the mclaren F1, It's still one of the best cars even after 20 years...

All good things must come to an end... For better things... Yea but I understand it's just too complicated for some people to understand...

New things are not necessary good and old stuff are not necessary bad. You don't automatically equate good with new and bad with old.

By the way, old cellphone like old BlackBerry still holds more battery life than any iPhone out there. I guess people are so enjoying new stuffs and completely forgotten what is really important.

iOS 6 is stale not for its look, but for way it operate. Control centre is one best example that simple operation can be really complicated under iOS 6. Not the look... People are looking for the way that us simplified their life and that was exactly iOS 6 lacking...

I agree.

The user interface is less obvious and requires more scanning to understand what is interactive, how large the touch area is and what happens when you interact with it.

"Everyone understands how to use a touch device"

Yes of course, but why sacrifice simplistic and lightning fast GUI for the sake of typography?

And the thin-line icons that blend in too much into text labels are also harder to scan and recognise than 'silhouette' type icons.

Actually, I don't like the new background design at all - the Dock takes up more visual space now that they need a blurry background to make the dock icons more prominent. All other white panels are slightly transparent making them look more 'dirty' than glass-like.

I only just got around to updating our older 3rd gen iPad and when I picked that up for the first time in a few weeks I couldn't believe just how dated iOS 6 looks compared to 7.

Converted now and I love it.

I do agree that iOS6 was starting to look old. All the gloss was akin to the reflections from Web 2.0. I still think iOS7 took the in-fashion 'flat' design and did it wrong. Also 'flat' design will slowly go out of fashion - you can tell by all the 'long shadows' that are appearing that designers are starting to get bored.

I've been using 7 since beta 1, love the new design.

My wife has kept her iPad 3 on iOS 6 and when I use it even for a minute I can't believe how dated it looks and how basic it operates.

Things like swiping the edges of the screen to go back in Safari for example have already become second nature.

I have 7 on my iPad 4 and iPhone 4s and could not imagine going back to 6. Roll on my upgrade in March and my new iPhone 5c or 5s!

Did you ever date an ugly girl for a good time? You get used to it. so move on and have fun with your iphone.

People keep explaining this point to you, but you don't seem to get it; short of getting another device, it is impossible to "just try it out for a few days." One can stick with ios 6 or make the irrevocable decision to upgrade, but those are the only two options. I would have already tried it out otherwise.

Anyway, I will try it out when I get my next Ipad.

Oh, so you use iOS7 because you are desperate and can't find anyone better, so you waste your time on something unattractive! That explains it!

The analogy is wrong still. It's more in the lines that you married this beautiful and sophisticated girl, who then all of a sudden got into mid-life crysis and started taking drugs and act and dress like Courtney Love.

Try not to think so deep, you're confusing yourself.

Just...no. Lmao.
