I jailbroke my device, I plan to not update or add cydia based apps until after a few days/weeks. That way the developers have time to update and I don't have to worry about Apple patching if I decide to remove the evaders jb.

Wise words CollegeApple.

Jan 20th something, I dunno of the top of head, I think 26/27th maybe...you can easily find it, sn0w tweeted it when it was released. Eitherway, probably best to just remove the expiry when Jailbroken as its pretty likely that we will only be able to have 7.1 JB on the betas :(

which of those two lines am i supposed to remove? ive tried it with the first one earlier and it sent my iPhone to restore heaven

this: <key>ReleaseType</key>
or: <string>Beta</string>

I installed the jailbreak because

1. I like tweaking around with my iPhone

2. I trust the evasi0n team to not sell my info to china

3. I don't really have important information of my phone that china needs.

Plus selling are info out to china is to much for the team to risk because they could of easily raised half a million dollars by ads and donations and they would easily be caught by others taking apart breaking down their code.

I’m still on JB 6.1.2 (iPhone 4S) and I really have no desire to “upgrade” to iOS 7. There is nothing about iOS 7 itself that I want, and I am happy with the apps I already have, so I do not foresee anything making iOS necessary for me. As such, think I’ll stay with the 6.1.2 jailbreak for the life of my 4S.

I don't know I haven't tried it yet :(

All I know is what sn0w said;

@iH8sn0w : If you're jailbreaking iOS 7.1 betas with evasi0n, remove the ReleaseType Beta Value in SystemVersion plist to remove the expiry!

I guess if the first one didnt work then maybe it is the second one? Hopefully someone who knows more / has already done it will chime in? How do we even check that its lost the expiry date lol? Can probably ask sn0w about it in a couple of days, right now he sounds a bit busy what with his internet connection being out and trying to get 6.1.3 JB released :p

I'll upgrade ro jailbreak with the sole reason I need to tether my unlimited data to my ipad on the go.

But I'm hearing so much conflicting thoughts regarding the jailbreak in this forum alone that waiting another couple of days won't matter to me..

Tweet from a jailbreak dev:

“@coolstarorg: I can confirm after some investigation that the English version of evasi0n doesn't even upload any spyware/chinese bloatware.”

Finally, someone clarified all of the confusion. At least I know China isn't getting any of my personal data .

You can just edit the file and rewrite the line back in but I deleted both lines

So you just removed both and it works? How do we know whether or not it still has an expiry though? - Just to make sure it wont expire on the 27th lol.

Hey guys, can you help me ?

I modified the Springboard.string to delete the "Slide to unlock" text and it worked but that little arrow won't disappear.
So I got no text (just what I wanted) and that arrow in the middle of the screen. How can I make it disappear ?
Thanks !!

I saw you mention that earlier as well. How do you remove the expiry?

I've mentioned it twice, think last time was on page 11. It's not very detailed though...as I said, hopefully someone a bit more knowledgeable can explain exactly how to do it :(

How did you edit the file ? I mean in what program/editor ??
Most likely did not save back in proper format ...

Thanks :)

You don't by any chance know how we can find out if it's successful or not? Not that I don't trust sn0w but don't want to find out on the 27th and have to go to unjailbreakable stock 7.1 :S
