Just randomly? I noticed it started skipping when unlocking, but way after everyone else reported this problem. I don't know why it took so long to manifest.

What I noticed is that the scrubbing controls sometimes get stuck. I never got skipping without prior scrubbing, but sometimes after scrubbing to a specific location in a song, the app jumps back to that location on unlock.

Nope, not one. Seriously whoever let this go now through 3 updates deserves to be fired. We need some serious GOOD alternatives to the stock app. I love ios 7 but the music app is simply a significant step backwards.

Agree. The people who did this have zero understanding of usability. After 10+ years of experience with iPods, this just shouldn't happen.

Apple really needs to work on the music app.. it still crashes when deleting songs, seriously, how has this not been fixed yet!? Also, why the hell did they get rid of the ability to delete artists/albums? I genuinely do not understand the logic behind that choice.

About two weeks ago, I wanted to delete a whole album, and since they'd removed the ability to delete albums, I had to delete songs individually.

Since the app crashed every time I deleted a song, you can imagine how annoying deleting an album of about 15 songs was...

The problem comes and go's - I find its usually triggered when moving the slider from the lock screen.

The problem appears to originate from the slider on the lock screen being out-of-sync with the one in the music app at some points. For some reason, when you unlock the device, it realigns the music with the slider, causing a stutter sound. Sometimes it's just half a second - others (as I've experienced) can be over a minute (even skipping back to the previous song at one point).

It's really strange that they haven't fixed this, considering iOS 7 has been in beta for 3 months and public release for over a month now. It was never like this in any previous iOS as far as I can recall.

I could not agree more with your comment. TBH (other than making phone calls) this is the one app they should get 100% right.

The new iOS7 music app, however, is way worse. If you want it fixed, write a feedback to Apple. Tell them that the app is broken and that you have no intention to buy a new iPhone/iPod if the problems aren't fixed.

Thank you for this link. I just used it to send feedback to Apple. I told them that I will not upgrade to ios7 until they make some changes to how the Music App works in ios7. I have read this entire thread and the Music App is the sole reason I will not upgrade to ios7. I have read the comments and especially the way they changed up album
searching. I really like how ios6 works...I can't tell you how many times, I use artist view then click the alphabetical ltr to the side to quickly get to my artist name then the albums are listed in order I can quickly click on the letter on the side get to the album click it and it lists all the songs on that album, I see the song I want and press it to play...all this takes me like seconds, very short time. I like this feature, especially with artist I have that have tons of albums, it's very easy to get to the one I want.

I was very professional but advised apple that I want to upgrade to ios7 but because I hear the Music App is not the same, I won't update. So I told them I look forward to seeing if changes are implemented on future updates so I can go forward with ios7 on my iphone 5.

I also gave them the link to this thread. :)

I've not read all this thread, not got that much time on my hands :p what with the crashing problems, although my crashing is when adding some songs to playlists, freezing sometimes, tracks listed in the wrong order, although it appears this has now been fixed after I redid my itune match, and the repeat album missing when you play and album from artists view, which is fecking annoying.

But, I've got round most of these problems. Just use Siri, it's great lol.

Also something I just realised...hope can be corrected?

I just subscribed to iTunes Match, which is working great (apart from some of the album art missing, how do I fix this?)

So I can listen to all my music by streaming it from iCloud...brilliant! But when I come to work rather then use my mobile data streaming songs I like to download some to my device and go to settings, music and "only show music on device" so I know what I actually have on my device to play...

Now the songs that I have STREAMED seemed to be there, along with my downloaded music,..now I haven't downloaded these, when I try to delete these I can't! So just because I have played these from streaming they are showing up like they are on my device but are they? The only way to get rid is turn back on the option "show all music" download them and then delete them...but how stupid is this??!!

Anyone else had this? Ideas?

I hate the scrubbing/skipping to different time in a song. It's so jumpy/jerky it never goes to that part of the song i want. It's so awful. Why?! :(

The default scrubber is now fast speed and skips about 8 seconds of the song with the slightest touch. It was better with the default being the fine scrubber like in all previous ios versions. To scrub using fine scrubber again you have to slide your finger up to change scrubber speeds. Anyway that and expanded artist albums, pictures etc make me hate this crap app.

And since you now have to slide your finger UP from the bottom, your thumb blocks the screen and you can't even see what you're doing. I left feedback at Apple. What they did to this Music app is just terrible. So many horrible changes.

I don't think there is a way to do this, but does anyone know if you can "shuffle by album" like on the iPod Classic? I have a playlist that I want to listen to an entire album, then randomly shuffle to another album in the playlist.

This was a problem for me too. After hours of troubleshooting I found something that may work for you.

Try this:
  1. On your iPhone/iPad/iPhone go to "Settings>iTunes & App Store".
  2. Click on your Apple ID (in blue text) and choose "Sign Out".
  3. When you're signed out delete the incorrectly named album(s) from the iPhone/iPad/iPod;
  4. Edit your album(s) name in your iTunes library to your liking (if not done already);
  5. Move the song(s) and(or) entire album(s) from your iTunes library back to your iPhone/iPad/iPod.
Your edits should now move to your iPhone/iPad/iPod. You can then sign back in to "iTunes & App Store" and your changes will hold.

This also works with artist pictures. I did not like the stock images (or random album art) iTunes associated with my artists - I wanted album art instead, but I wanted the choice of which album art is associated with the artist.

After you sign out of your Apple ID (same as above):
  1. Remove the album(s) associated with the artist from your iPhone/iPad/iPod;
  2. Move the song/album from your iTunes library back to your iPhone/iPad/iPod, however, the FIRST ALBUM you move over to your iPhone/iPad/iPod will be associated with that artist.
For example, I have seven AC/DC albums but I want the cover of "Back in Black" to be associated with AC/DC on my iPhone's artist listing. After I've signed out of my Apple ID, I transfer "Back in Black" to my iPhone first and then the other six albums in any order. "Back in Black" will be the album picture associated with AC/DC on the artist page.

Not sure if this is a bug or how Apple intended this to be, but this works for me. Hopefully it can for you too.

I've been having this issue since iOS 7 and it's been driving me insane. Unfortunately your steps didn't resolve my issue and I followed them perfectly.

Any advice?

The ONLY thing that does work for me is completely restoring my iPhone from iTunes and starting as a "new phone", not logging into iCloud and then syncing music. This is HELL.

Yes this is a result of moving the scrubbing bar to the bottom. I unless it's locked, then it's on the top. Of course, that's if you can use it while it's locked without it just swiping as an unlock instead of scrubbing.

The gmusic 2 app has gone free btw. My iTunes match is about to expire so I'll be moving to google music.

Good app. I already was using Google Music Manager on my PC to keep all my music in the cloud from when I had my Sony Xperia phone (returned when iOS 7 was released).

Gmusic2 seems to work well, and all my cloud music and playlists are there.

Not to mention, isn't the Google Music manager and storage free (unlike the $25 for itunes match)? I know Google has All Access for $9.99 (I got in when it was $7.99) but I think that is unrelated to Google Music Manager and it's storage.

Thanks for the tip!

The other day I discovered that some of my songs in my music library had wrong covers, some songs would have the cover of another album in my library. It's not a big deal or anything, all my music is still there to listen to but it looks weird when the wrong cover art appears when I play a song. Has anyone experienced the same and know how to fix it?

They've just updated the remote app as well and ruined it with the expanded albums so don't update.

Yh google music is free for up to 20,000 songs.

I had massive issues with this, but did finally manage to fix it in my collection.

The only solution I've found to work reliably is to:
1. Select the songs with the incorrect artwork in iTunes.
2. Delete them from iTunes. When asked if you want to delete them from the Cloud, choose YES.
3. When asked if you want to trash or keep the files, choose KEEP.
4. Update iTunes match. (Not sure if this is necessary, but I did it.)
5. Using a tag editor, such as MP3Tag, open the files and edit the artwork as you like. Make sure that there is ONLY ONE image in the artwork section- If in doubt, remove artwork completely, then add the artwork you want.
6. Add the files back to iTunes.
7. Update Match.

NOTE: You will lose your ratings, play counts, and last-played data if you do this. If these things are important to you, I don't know if there's a reliable solution. You could change the art through iTunes and it might stay fixed, but in my experience it will revert back to the incorrect artwork at some point.
