Hello,

I would like to start a thread with every single problem I (or you) have encountered with the Music app from iOS 7.

Music has always been a part of Apple, and many would argue one of the factors of where they are today. It is a bit strange that their new Music app took a step backwards in terms of where their app was in iOS 6.

Here is a list of all the problems I have encountered with iOS 7's Music app:

1. The Music app does not show the edited metadata tags I made on purchased songs. Rather it pulls the information from the iTunes store and shows the tags they want to show. This means there is a discrepancy between how songs appear on iTunes that reflect the changes I made and the songs that appear in iOS 7. There are many reasons one would make changes to the metadata for organization and library management purposes, and the fact that apple is deciding what to show me is very frustrating.

2. The inability to add songs to a playlist from another playlist. No comment.

3. The inability to shuffle genre directly by going into the genre. Bigger no comment.

4. The inability to shuffle a specific album after selecting a specific artist and not have all his albums shuffle. Biggest no comment.

5. Album artwork on some albums not showing and appearing as generic titles. All my albums have had perfect artwork for the last half-decade, and have always worked seamlessly on my countless iPads, iPods and iPhones. Now all of a sudden iOS 7 shows some of my album artwork as generic titles. How, oh how, oh how does this happen, how does this pass quality control.

6. Is there a way to hide the Artist profile photos that iOS 7 provides and have it use one of the artist albums instead as the artist profile?

7. Is there a way to hide the explicit tag that shows up on explicit songs within the music player?

8. When entering the Genre tab. The next thing that shows up is the Artist list. Then we have to select the artist and don't have an option to see all the albums within that genre like we were able to in iOS 6. Am I doing something wrong?

If you have any workarounds or solutions to the above problems, please post them.

If you have any extra issues/problems you're experiencing with the Music app in iOS 7 please post them too.

Thank you,

Nick

Music app in iOS7 sucks complete a%%.

Everything you listed has been the vain of peoples complaints for months and months while Apple refuses to make changes to it.

Get use to the crappy music app or try SoundHound.

Mine randomly stops playing music if I keep on shuffle. It will show that it's playing a track but no sound. Or it will not even have the scrubber move but is in play mode.

Garbage.

I get this with non iTunes purchased songs that have already been synced. I think the best thing to do is delete them, then resync. iOS regularly doesn't see the change I've made and therefore leaves the metadata the same, and I like everything perfect in my library.

I agree with all of those, the Music app has been terrible on iOS7.

To add to your list:

-If a song has an artist featuring another artist, this counts as a separate artist and album altogether
-No play icon in status bar
-Often when I open control center and just hit play it doesn't do anything. It used to just shuffle the songs or start from my last song, now I have to open the music app and select a song.
-Sometimes I'll have to hit play multiple times in the control center for it to actually start playing

Garbage.

Mine does that! I can move it back though and it will play, but on some songs it stops at the same spot even if I start the song over.

1) I choose a new song to play, it starts playing already into the song and not from the beginning.
2) Song skipping when unlocking.
3) Scrubbing from the lock screen is so hard, I have to pull up the control centre and use the controls there.

The music app on iOS 7 for me is the only app I have problems with. And everyday.

Sometimes that works for me, but usually not. All my music app problems are sporadic and I'm always waiting for it to stop playing.

Has anyone encountered an issue in music player whilst listening to a song and then pausing it for a minute or so, resuming it from the lockscreen, the song continues from a completely different place?

For me, the ability to view all songs by an artist, in alphabetical order, is hard to understand. I know you can shuffle all, but not view all. You have to try to look through all the albums to try to find the song. Not easy if driving.

It's even hard given the white everything. No distinction in the lists. Plus it makes an awful border frame for the album art.

The small artist images are useless too. Many of them look the same, and you really don't know who's who from those images. Yet, rather than seeing 8 artists at once, can only see 3.5 on 4S. No help whatsoever.

It'd be nice to have access to the app settings such as Eq., rather than having the back button turn into store (it's like a trap).

Then there's the bugginess and crashing.

That is the most annoying thing...happens to me all the time. This and the difficult to use scrubber are the worst things and need to be solved asap. Major bugs that should not exist in an apple product.

Exactly, considering the iPhone is an extended iPod with communication enhancements and modern technology (or not so modern in my case), I would also think that this shouldn't happen via the iOS software.
I kind of get the feeling this iOS7 was rushed into circulation without exhaustive QA tests and checks.

:apple: How hard can it be to test the iPhone 4/ 4s/ 5/ 5c and 5s with the same OS?

No doubt there will be yet another update to fix this and other anomolies within iOS7 within the next few weeks. <sigh>

That can be easily fixed if you modify the "Album Artist" field. I'm assuming you left this blank. For example:

Artist Field: Chris Tomlin feat. Lecrae
Album Artist Field: Chris Tomlin

Then the "featuring" song will be under Chris Tomlin instead of having it's own artist profile.

Awesome, thanks!

Can we disable that annoying coverflow tile screen that comes up when you turn landscape? That shi* is annoying.

Also, I get a crash anytime I delete a song.

Organize your music better.

Artist Ft. Artist in the artist tab always creates a new album.

A major problem I've found has to do with the scrubber, at least on the lock screen when trying to scrub you miss it constantly and swipe , unlocking your device rather than scrubbing through the track... Sorry but up there at the top where the scrubber is it should not recognize swipe to unlock, everywhere else is good but stop it clear at the top...

It's not a broken feature though. It's just how metadata is handled.

So if I add an album to my iTunes library and every song has the same album title in the info and the same artist, except a few songs have the same artist but feature another artist, instead of grouping the songs in 1 album by the album title, or even by the common artist, it assumes that Artist ft Artist is a whole new artist and is separate from the album I uploaded (even though the songs with Artist and Artist ft Artist have the same album title) and creates a different album for Artist ft Artist with the same album name?

This doesn't seem broken to you? I'm not saying this is new to iOS 7, just surprised that it hasn't been fixed yet, especially given that all stock apps were redesigned.
