iOS 7 Now on 73% of Devices, But Adoption Rates 'Much Slower' Than iOS 6

Still major problems for people using MS Exchange servers and iOS 7. You get lots of phantom unread email notifications. Been through countless numbers of Apple Care tech support people trying to figure this out. There is no current solution. Which makes the iPhone rather useless - if you always have 30,000+ unread e-mails!!

After a lot of pleading, I was able to get trade back and get an iPhone 5 refurb still under 6.1.4. So I am back in business receiving e-mails as normal. But no one in my company is allowed to update to iOS 7 until this bug is fixed. Which seems to be taking an awfully long time.

I loath iOS 7

Switching to Android asap.

Anecdotal. I was at a bar last night with a bunch of old friends. 3 had android. 5 had iPhones. Every person with an android bitched about their phones at one point or another. The ones with iPhones didn't even talk about their phones.

Looks and aesthetics aside it's just too buggy in its current state. I'm on a 5S and apps freeze, the UI lags, the entire system needs to restart at times. I also absolutely hate how the rotation lock is now in the fast settings menu as opposed to simply double clicking the home button. When switching angles so does the menu where you would lock it making it cumbersome to do something so simple.

7.1 can't come soon enough.

I really like iOS 7. I think it looks a lot better, and is the breath of fresh air iOS needed.

There's still plenty of room for improvement, particularly on some older devices. It's a lot of work to pull off in a year, iOS 7 will mature over the next year or so. Give it some time.

Also, there was a lot of launch problems, people couldn't download it initially which might have put people off for a while. 180m downloads is a lot for any company to cater for... that's like 200 petabytes of data.

(disable motion on the iPad 3, made mine a lot better).

My school district's IT department says to hold off on upgrading to iOS 7 due to problems with Configurator. Not sure what these problems are, though.

Odd, my Exchange has had no such problems. That's a hell of a bug and a good reason to switch back.

Well, no surprise since iOS7 is not being supported by iPod 4th generation + > iPhone 3Gs. Now fragmentation is showing even more.

They should release "light version" of iOS7 to cope with the older devices (which still around). Forget about pressing your customer to upgrade every time you release new shiny devices.

Big mistake Apple, big mistake.

I love iOS7. Its everything I loved in iOS7 but with more features. I really don't understand the anger towards it. Its essentially the same OS!

It's all those 3GS holding us back.

You jest, but you are probably not far from truth.

I upgraded my iPad 3 right away. *insert the usual complaints about iOS 7 here*, but performance wise it works great.

I hesitated on my iPhone 4. User reports vary wildly -- some folks claim iOS 7 runs just fine, others complain that it slowed the phone down to the point of being unusable. So I'm holding off. Maybe I'll just get a new 5S and then it will be a moot point.

iOS 7 has potential, it just needs to be optimized. I will not update my iPad 3 to 7, not now, not ever. I still prefer the iOS 6 look. Wish the 5S came with iOS 6.

The functionality of iOS 7 is great, and that's why I upgraded my phone. But the look just misses the mark, badly. On my iPad, where the functionality isn't as important, I'm sticking with iOS 6.

I have to admit I'm amazed by the hate for iOS 7, but no one I actually know who's using it doesn't like it, so this is the typical internet thing. I've only been a heavy Apple user for about seven years, but I can't stand even looking at iOS 6 anymore, let alone using it. It's ugly and it was antiquated when it came out a year ago, let alone now.

I'm running iOS 7 on two iPhone 4S, a 5s and an iPad 2 and loving it on all of them. The only thing that would get me to switch to Android is having to go back to iOS 6. Yuck.

That's because iOS 7 looks like it was designed by a 2 year old. Oh, and the design looks like something out of 1989. Not to mention all of the animation. I had to work on a coworkers phone with iOS 7 yesterday and it really is terrible.

Yeah, I'd imagine the devices that can't upgrade constitute a fair amount. Also the people with marginal devices, like the iPhone 4, may not be.

Duh....

Naturally the iOS7 rate should be lower as there are more and more old generation devices out there where Apple does not allow an upgrade (like my iPad 1.....).... Does not take a rocket scientist.....

I can't lie, I love iOS 7! Sure there are a few things here and there that could be better, but it's still a vast improvement on 6!

Makes sense. They changed the way iOS looks and so people are spewing vitriol about it. Upgrading is being discouraged, most likely, even if it's the only way to get bug fixes.
