Apple started working on the iPhone iOS 7 first. More work has been done for that platform. iPad development is behind, that's why we see the amount of bugs left and the lack of optimization.

LOL... I don't think I need post other video doing same thing on iOS 6... It still lags **** on iOS 6...

You mean you won't post videos of iOS 6 lagging on the third iPad because there aren't any. My iPad 3 has no trouble browsing apple.com on iOS 7.

I agree with the OP, in that the ipad3 is not ageing gracefully, most notably due to its A5x processor.

In hindsight, the ipad4 was everything the ipad3 should have been, just that Apple couldn't develop the A6x processor in time, and so had to make do with the A5x.

The iPad2 and iPad mini still run reasonably well on IOS7 primarily because they have fewer pixels to push, so A5 more than suffices.

If we look at the product specs, there are a few breakpoints which a device needs to meet to run smoothly at that point in time.

A5+512mb RAM - iphone4s, ipad2, ipad mini
A6+1gb RAM - iphone5, ipad4
A7 really should have come with 2gb of ram. This could then pave the way for A8 IOS devices with 4gb of ram, thereby ushering in the era of mobile desktop computing that much more quickly. :(

This is such a strange debate for a technology forum. We have had two model after the three. If you take my laptop which I bought about the time I bought the 3 and run that laptop against my wife's brand new laptop, of course you see a difference. Everything on hers is snappier. You would expect that. That doesn't translate back that mine is bad, slow, lags or is inferior. It is just older technology. We all should understand(at least I think we should) that like a car depreciates as you are driving it out of the showroom. Technology ages even faster. Before a product hits the market, the next latest, greatest is already in the pipeline.

Bro you are delusional.

iPad 3 has same performance as iPad 2, and iPad Mini is just the iPad 2 but shrunk. iPad 3 has retina whereas iPad 2 & Mini do not.

There will be same iOS 7 GM performance on iPad 3, iPad 2 and iPad Mini.

These models are also up to 18 months old, what do you expect? If you want the fastest experience you need the newest hardware.

Yes, but Apple disabled Blur on iPad 3 and 2, not on mini.

I've noticed that after upgrading to iOS 7.1, iPad 3 works smoother and faster. All of the problems like lags or reboots were cause by hardware and software "harmoniously" together. iPad 3 sure can't offer satisfactory graphic performance, as can be seen in Asphalt 8 and Minion Rush. Both those games are running under retina resolution, and unfortunately they can't even be smooth after down scaling. (Minion Rush runs like *****)

It's always good to buy new hardwares. I've bought an iPad Air and it's on the way home. I believe latest hardware and software could solve all these.

It actually not. Any computer in last three years with semi-decnet processor with 4GB of memory runs latest OS well. My desktop PC which I built 3 years ago with Core i5 and 8GB of memory, it runs Windows 7, Windows 8 as it should. Yes, it won't decode video as fast as the latest Haswell processor, but it runs everything smooth and gets all features of OS.

iPad 3 however is not...

It's true that older tech is old, lol. But the iPad 3 is laggier compared to the iPad 2. The iPad 3 was out for only a few months then the 4 was released to replace it.

Graphics need to be dumb down on it to maintain the performance of previous models.

It has poor performance right out of the box in comparison to the iPad 2.

The point is iPad 2 runs iOS 7 better than iPad 3, not that iPad 4 runs it better than iPad 3.

Exactly. As an example, the iPhone 5 currently does not feel slow compared to the 5s. In fact, side by side, they almost feel equally fast. Heck, iOS 7.1 betas 2 and 3 actually propel the 5 ahead of the 5s running 7.0.4. But two years from now, the 5 will be hitting its limit while the 5s will still be going strong. Same thing with the iPad 2 and iPad 3. The iPad 3 wasn't noticeably slower than the iPad 2 at first (aside from minor hiccups), but now that we have a more graphically intensive OS along with even more demanding games, it's clear that the iPad 3 isn't powerful enough to satisfactorily drive a retina display.

The average user isn't likely to notice (as long as they don't see an iPad 3 side by side with other iPads), but those of us on MacRumors have a need for speed- exactly why I bought an iPad Air the other day. The iPad 3 was okay... but the Air blows the 3 out of the water.

IPad 3 may have been weaker in performance out of the box against the 2 but the retina blew the socks off the 2's display. What really left a sour taste in the mouth of 3 owners including myself was the short cycle between it and the four. Still the 3 is not a bad version. It is just typical of the way Apple designs the iPad. Their theory is give'm just enough power to run today. If we give them too much, what will be do next year.
