Might be too early to officially say it's fixed but looks like my emails are being pushed successfully again. By the end of the day we will see how smoothly this is working.

so just to confirm I know what you mean, you are using the native mail iOS app connected to Google Apps services, and you are getting push email every single time now?

for anyone that needs to get email instantly, what i did was create a @icloud.com account and i forwarded all of my google apps mail to that. sucks that i have to delete it twice but at least im getting my mail
Another option is to just install the gmail app. Then when you get notified just open the stock mail app (if thats what you prefer) and read/manage your mail. Push works fine with the gmail app as well as the red dot count and notifications if you want them. I just listen for the ding and when I see a number on gmail app I know there is new mail for that acct. Kinda cool since I also have an outlook.com address setup in stock mail app as well (both setup in stock mail app) so I can see at glance which acct has mail I need to check based on if the the red dot count is on stock app or gmail app. So personal email can wait for example whereas work email needs attention faster. :)

I think it's fixed! Mine appear to be pushing as well! So far

My workaround is to install Gmail app and use alerts from the app and disable alerts for mail. It is kind of stupid but that is the only reliable method

I hate the gmail app as it is really bad compared to Apple mail. Not sure why they have such a high rating.

OK I think I am cancelling my Google apps. I do feel that this is an Apple isue and not Gmail. For last 3 weeks I have been using my gmail.com email with Outlook app works fantastic and is closest thing to mail app. So back to gmail.com for me.

Why are some saying that push works, some doesn't?

ActiveSync on iOS for Google Apps seems to have occasional issues when Apple updates iOS or when Google makes some sort of system changes.

I'm still on Google Apps free so the Exchange setup isn't available to me. I have to say I'm jailbroken and the "Push for Gmail" tweak has been rock solid for me getting the equivalent of push for a standard email account in Gmail.

Something is strange......
iPad Mini 3 - I went ahead and cleaned out all of my email accounts on Saturday. Then I reset them all back up via Apple mail iOS.
  • Outlook.com - Works usually. There are more "push" fails than successes. There are times an item in the outbox is delayed.
  • Gmail Acct 1 - No push. Usually works well but occasionally an email will stick; in the outbox, in draft, in ... and I have to reopen the email and re-execute the task. That usually works.o_O
  • Gmail Acct 2 - dittoo_O
  • Gmail Acct 3 - dittoo_O
  • Outlook Exchange - Works well though I will delays at times. I'll send an email via exchange (pc) and here the alert on my iPhone, iPad and Edge all within seconds. Sometimes they will alert seconds to minutes to ... apart.
  • iCloud.com - Works extremely well if it ever shows up. This is the only account that "loses" emails incoming and outgoing.

At this point I just chalk it up to "Not Dependable" and have gone to using my Edge as the primary device.

Still not pushing correctly with the mail app for gmail. I ended up installing Inbox to manage my Gmail account. Even Outlook was having issues getting push mail. I put Oulook, inbox, gmail and mail all on the same homescreen and sent test messages. Inbox and Gmail received it right away. Outlook would later, if at all. mail never did unless I opened the app.

Push hasn't been supported for free Gmail accounts in iOS's Mail app for some time (short of some older devices).

Explain to me "free gmail accounts"?

If your email account ends in @gmail.com then you definitely have a free gmail account. If your email is a custom domain your account may or may not be free but it's probably not a free one...in which case you or the folks that set up the custom domain email at Google Apps are paying Google monthly or yearly for it.

I started this thread specially to address paid google accounts....even those are not working...
