Sometimes during file downloading, the receptors may "think" it properly downloaded a file when something went wrong, (perhaps due to the traffic on the apple servers)
Because god forbid we blame Apple for shipping a buggy piece of software. I reinstalled it twice on my iPad with the same laggy garbage that was happening in the beginning. I really wish sometimes I was one of those people who dont notice things. I expect nothing but silky smoothness we used to have with iOS....but I guess some have standards and other are ok with have android like stability with an apple logo on it. Hell even with iOS 7 the biggest thing people complained about was the design. iOS 8 is filled with stability and performance bugs.

Side note...I have yet to roll back my 5S and I was listening to a playlist on Apple music.....stepped away for 30 minutes and came back and couldn't pick up where I left off since the app somehow crashed in the background while I was away. YAY!

Does anyone think it could be due to using playlist FOLDERS? A lot of my music is inside playlist folders for better organization.

Everything else was turned off. Purchased Music was set to not show, I wasn't signed up for Apple Music trial, and the only stuff I had on my phone was my music. I also went the extra mile and prevented Music.app from using my cellular connection at all.

I just got back from a 5 hour trip to the beach with my IP6. I had music playing through BT the whole time. I was using email and web surfing several times. I didn't notice any strangeness in the UI. I did experience a little more skipping in the music than I am used to hearing but it was only noticeable a couple of times in a couple of spots.

I decided to make a fresh install via iTunes now, i am using the app without stopping for like... 30 minutes now, and no problems... I think the restore fixed it. But it's too soon for party. I will post here if any problems occur.

Ok, the lag is back after the restore. It's definitely a problem with the music app. Now i am fully convinced.

I wonder why other people aren't having this issue, but some of us are having the issue even after restoring fresh.

Ok... Try to uncheck "automatically follow artists " or whatever you have written in there since i don't use english on my iPhone. Its inside the music app>profile>follow artists and curators, and uncheck the automatic thing. Then run the app for a awhile.. I think thats the source of the problem. I am testing it yet. But not a problem since i did that.

Hmm. I did turn that off after it started lagging again, but I don't think I stuck around long enough to test if that was the cause. Update us on your findings please.

I don't see this setting. Is it because I disabled Connect? Maybe that is why I'm not experiencing the lag?

iPad Air 2 here. Going into the artist page and clicking a related artist makes all the "links" within the app unresponsive and the music app crashes after while.... It feels more like a back-end issue for me because if stay on the album page and keep browsing in "you may also like" section I don't get this unresponsiveness.

Just installed 8.4 on my iPad and at first, everything is smooth sailing. Exiting music app, and scrolling on the home screen is normal. Entering the music app is fast and responsive.

However, I turned everything off that is related to the new music app (Connect, Cloud Purchases, Apple Music, EQ) and it still starts to lag after using the music app for about 15 minutes. I can reproduce that youtube video no problem with everything turned off.

Also, this time I didn't add any playlists, so the playlist length is not the issue.

Anyone have any more ideas about what might be causing this? Is there any software that will show memory usage so I can monitor Music.app's memory?

Maybe I was wrong. After I force quit music.app after turning off "Connect" in the Restrictions settings, I haven't had any lag on my iPad. Hmm. Maybe you're onto something here.

I have a lot of playlists in folders and have terrible lag on 5S after playing music. That's probably it, and why other people don't have the problem!

I listened to music on my air 2 all day yesterday and didn't see any of these issues - it's a 128gb wifi with iCloud music library turned on and a subscription active.

How did nobody at Apple notice this and how did it make it through the beta? Isn't the point of a public beta to get people to test and report bugs like this one? Unfortunately, they didn't let me in the beta for whatever reason. Probably because I don't have Yosemite.

The beta's didn't have the Apple Music part, all we had was the updated Music app which performed fine.

Yes, it is connect. The "automatically follow artists" setting, that makes all the sense, what might happen is, after a while, 15 minutes or so, you listen to like, 5, 6 songs, and a error in the code keeps searching for the profile of each artists, without success. Over and over again. Thats probably it.

Also still has the bug where if you sync to iTunes and iTunes has already downloaded app updates your phone or iPad will say you need to update the apps even though they already are. Maybe iOS 9 will fix this.

I swear I've tried turning off "automatically follow artists" and it was still the same. I think turning off Connect via restrictions is the best way to avoid the lag. Can you test this?

I contacted Apple yesterday about iCloud music issues, and they said that a fix is in the works for several 8.4 issues, hopefully this is one of them!
Why release something so obviously buggy? What the heck are Apple playing at. I swear no testing goes down at Cupertino.

Add me to this. Trying the uncheck follow artists setting and will report back if helps.

iPhone 6 Plus.
