I personally don't care what you think, and I don't care whatever you linked to says. It happened and caused a huge headache.

Is it common? Absolutely not, I only had it happen with one release. Did it happen and could it happen again? Absolutely.

Did it happen to others? Sure did! I found how to fix it on the support forums.

Read above.

Again, please tell me why on earth I would lie about such a thing? Seriously tell me what I would gain from it since you all seem to think I'm lying?

You are a Master Baiter, sir. That's all I have to say.

You had beta's installed that expired. The SHA1 for the GM for iOS 7 and what the public got was 100% identical. There wasn't a single bit as difference.

iOS 8 available 15 minutes early

So if it's different I can just download the File then update? bcuz I'm already on the GM

Bad idea and here is why:

GM will expire. Despite what people claim it does not count as the final version and here is exactly what will happen if you do this and don't upgrade to the regular version (checking in iTunes will tell you its the latest version but it will expire).

You download GM, it explores. You try and upgrade/restore in iTunes and you can't, because iTunes is confused (unless Apple fixed this issue) and thinks you have a current version.

You then have to do a backup and then a DFU restore and restore using the IPSW file and then restore everything back on your phone. It's a giant pain in the ass and takes awhile.

WRONG! Don't listen to this guy the GM does not expire, I repeat it does NOT expire!

I haven't seen an update on my 5C or iPad mini retina yet….

I'm currently debating on whether to download it today, or wait until after my 6 Plus arrives. I'm afraid to kill my new phone experience by already playing with the new OS……gotta decide.

In case anyone oversaw the last 8131x posts stating this:

GM's don't expire.

GM is exactly the same as what we 're getting today.

Just make sure as a guinea pig to let us know if it ****s up your phone! ;)

Considering around 9-15 million people have already installed the GM....on lots of 5s......what are you actually expecting?

Stalking this forum is a guaranteed way to find someone who will inevitably **** up something as simple as updating to iOS 8...so if that is what you are looking for....it will happen. It will be right here. Just wait.

I'm not going to accuse you of lying. But you ARE wrong. So I'm just gonna make sure anyone who sees this posts also sees this one.

GM's don't expire. 8.0.1 will come as OTA update to GM builds. End of discussion.

Your notice is not legit; at least being for the fact that Apple doesn't send out notices like that, and for the fact that the west coast time would be 9:45AM, if it were released 15 minutes early.

Bogus all the way.

Just received my notice of an update for IOS 8 and it's only 11:45 PM on the West Coast.

No it was not a beta it was a GM. We can ONLY install GM on all work devices except for the development device.

Geeze what is wrong with you? You never answered me on what I would gain if I was lying?

I'm not wrong at all, others had the problem too. Go dig thorough the Apple community pages if you don't believe me.

Why on earth would I like about such a thing? No one seems to be able to answer that question.

Stop. GM's don't expire. You've been reported, as we all suspect you are intentionally trying to mislead and spam bait people.

Enjoying the heated debate. Only 3 hours to go. Keep it up gents!

Well I am not lying either, I never installed the public release of iOS 7. Flashed the GM release after the iPhone 5s event and that's it. Not just my iPhone , my iPad 2 as well.
Ok so if there is such thing as an expiry date, would you be kind enough to tell us what date that is? please?

seriously, guys? obviously no one is going to convince the other. So why don't you all relax and have a nice good morning and in a couple of hours we'll be enjoying iOS 8.

I'm all for it. I'm not sure why everyone jumped on me for explaining an experience I had that I was hoping no one else had to go through.

Reported for what? Get real. Look at my post history I'm not some new member. I'm also not sure what you mean by "spam bait" but where have you seen me spamming a product, or sending links?

Seriously get off your high horse.

I'm not looking at anything, GMs do NOT expire!

I wouldn't touch iOS 8 with a 10-foot pole until enough guinea pigs on the forum here say that it doesn't cause any (and I mean ANY) lag/slowdown on the 5s.
You must be one of the few here not running IOS 8 dev, I'm sorry

Positive. I'm the one who had to update not only my iPad but all the test machines at work when this happened because I thought it just rolled over too. iTunes said I was up to date, yet the GM expired.

I installed iOS 7 GM on all my devices last year, and they never expired, and I have been updating them over the air ever since.

How is it people still don't understand that the GM build is what gets installed on the new phones that are shipping right now? These phones are already on a plane and shipping out to people. They don't magically get the OS installed during shipping. GM builds do NOT expire.

Nope. iOS 7 GM didn't expire. iOS 7 GM was the exact same build as the release which means they didnt touch it at all. If they did anything as much as add an expiration date, it would change the build number.
