Doesn't seem much different than 7.0 days. Nothing new or surprising at this point. Certainly far from unusable or anything even close to that, as the title of the thread seems to imply.
Exactly, but I was hoping for Apple to improve those things.

my only issue with the GM is miserable battery life. I've lost at least 2hrs of usage compared to iOS 7.
A few UI glitches here and there but battery is horrid.
I don't know what it is but most of the time the phone feels warm.
And its been setup up brand new not a restore. Only app installed is Facebook and whatsapp.
There are so many glitches that I have to downgrade back to 7.1.2 on my 5S.
Anyone else having this issue?
It runs laggy. Period.
Some people are not sensitive to slight drop in fps during animations. I am very sensitive to fps where I can notice difference.
It's exactly the situation where some gamers don't find a difference between 60fps and 30fps game but some gamers revolt if fps drop to 30. Same here. The animations on iOS 8 GM are dropping massive frames. Hence they appear stuttery/laggy to many people. That gives an illusion of iOS 8 being slower.
I am not trying to insult you. Consider this as a scientific explanation.
I'm not calling you a liar, but I'm very sensitive to frame drops and it's been smooth as butter on my iPhone 5s.
You are not sensitive enough.
1. Weather app stutters when switching between cities by tapping them.
2. Notifications is definitely not doing 60fps with V-sync
3. Keyboard in Safari takes significant delay to show up. It lags while showing up. (More pronounced on iPad Air)
4. More lag compared to 7.1.2 when screen is rotated while keyboard is on screen.
5. Apps take 1-2 seconds more to start.
When the translucency effects in iOS 8 are exactly same as in iOS 7, why lag has been purposely introduced while doing same animations? That's beyond me.
"Other" data is horrible. It expands at a rate exponentially faster than any other version of iOS on iPad at present. 4.53GB in a few days on a clean install on my 32GB iPad Air - I'm going to need the 64GB model just to have as much storage as a 16GB device in previous generations if it carries on like this.
