I couldn't help noticing a "Preview" app ...

Apple's doing spring-cleaning.... removing certain apps, and replacing it with "other" worthless apps.

Kinda like not finishing the job entirely...

Streamlining iOS8 looks good... Auto-delete i can't wait for, as i tent not to delete any of my messages. Even so i have 16Gig, it would still be useful, and sometimes i just plan forget.

Game center should of been like this from the beginning... Only those apps with support... rather than having another app on screen, filling up your Home screen with Apple's own default apps..

I just think of it as a "rather than integrate it, give access to developers on as "as need" basis."

Its different view point... but i'm ok with that.

(Do you reckon that "green felt" has something to do with this ?) People finally had enough ?

I haven't seen anyone mention the changes made to the calendar app....it makes me crazy that I can no longer add appointments to the list view.

And add me to the "bring back the old notification center!" crowd.

Don't kill me for asking, but what's the purpose of TextEdit now that Pages is free and we've had Notes since forever? I never use it on the Mac.
As well as everything already mentioned, text and rich-text documents are fluid-width while Pages documents are fixed-width. With a TextEdit application on iOS, you'll be able to easily read your text on your 4-inch display without having to zoom in and pan around.

Simplifying Notification Center is a good step, but they should really just bring back the functionality of iOS 6. It worked perfectly and my usage was centered around it.

The removal of Game Centre is welcome too. I hope they plan to do the same in OS X.

I guess we've pretty much discovered all the main features of iOS 8 this past week. I just hope that the visual tweaks are exciting or their won't be any surprises at WWDC.

I'm not sure how you come to the conclusion that we've "pretty much discovered all the main features of iOS 8 this past week," but that's a ridiculous assumption to make.

Man, I don't get some of the people on this thread. Apple is 'trying' to cater to the 'millions' of people who use their iOS, and all some people can complain about is that there are too many Apple installed icons on their screen. Stocks, Weather, Passbook, etc. may not be useful to you, but Jane over here might find them 'very' useful. True, Apple could make them delete-able, and then add them to the AppStore, but 'maybe' they add core functionality that the system needs to run certain functions... Yah think? Sure, they could add the needed code provided by these apps directly into the system, but then you're going to get a more bloated system. Not good. Yes, maybe there are better stock/weather apps than the default ones, but will they integrate with the system as well? Who knows, but I doubt Apple wants to let iOS harmony suffer because of bad 3rd party coding. Just be happy that Apple maybe looking into adding a cross-app doc folder (my personal hope).

So to all the default app complainers, pull up your Big Girl Panties and just put all those nasty app icons into a single folder. Multi-icons made into one icon. There, don't you feel better now? I know I do. ;-)

But if you 'still' need something to complain about, then keep going on about no quick SMS responses. I'm right there with you on that point!

1) uh ??? this post is rude and way out of context....your blog fart was nasty Yes, there are a few people and I am one who think there is room for improvement in iOS ... I know it's a radical and probably totally stupid point of view...but I actually do think there is always room for improvement.

He may be rude but he is right though! And you are absolutely right when you say there is lot of room for improvements on iOS! It always will be!

What i mostly want is a new keyboard option similar to swiftkey! Or atleast let users install other keyboards, the existing one sucks big time. IT was great when it came out but today its obsolete.

So far the rumoured iOS 8 features are:

- Healthbook
- Possible TextEdit and Preview app
- Possible mobile payments
- Improved Maps app
- iTunes Radio app
- Simplified Notification Centre
- Auto deleting messages

I'm sure their will be a bunch of cool smaller additions, but if the rumours are indeed correct then I personally wouldn't expect a whole lot more. This is just my opinion.

What does Game Center have to do with iOS 7? It existed before that.

The colors the interface etc

Yeah man, you are absolutely right!
Please Apple, bring back the awesome beautifully designed and so much missed older iOS game centre!!

Notifications is Stupid

I seem to spend half my life managing the useless notifications system in IOS. It'd be one thing if the Notifications were actually USEFUL, or if it popped I could actually ACT on it, or easily mark it as read from the home screen or if I clicked the stupid badge it'd automatically take me to the actual notification the badge is related to instead I have to hunt and peck to find them to get them to disappear.

If I turn off Notifications in the settings menu then dammit it should turn them all off globally as the stupid button implies. Why even give users that option when it doesn't and never has worked??????

I shouldn't have to still go through 80 or 100 apps and turn them off manually. And if I say I want the app removed from notifications, then damn it turn it OFF. Don't force me to go into each one and force me to manually turn off a bunch of settings within each freaking app! And for god's sake once I go through all that I don't want a freaking app constantly prompting and annoying the f out of me to turn them back on! OS Notifications drives me freaking BatS CRAZY!:mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad:

I have to agree with you. Notifications on iOS are not good. I don't understand why we must delete notifications per app and not per notification.
Acting on an incoming message would also be great, as on OS X.
The worst thing for me is the mess notification centre is. I would like to have notifications sync across all my devices, OS X and iOS. I don't need the missed notifications tab, it is pretty useless.
I also would prefer to have a global on/off switch for notifications, and finally, a do not disturb mode for notifications also..

It's the Global Off/On switch that really irritates. It's there, I have it set to turn off notifications, but the Apps still show up in the notifications center and then when I manually remove them for the notifications, you STILL have to go in and manually deactivate the badge, notification, screen, and other settings - for EVERY app.

Because it's quicker and light weight. Pages isn't free, you need to buy a new computer to get it. I use it all the time for editing .txt and .rtf files.

Good. The Game Center app is useless. I think Apple thought it be really addicting like Xbox Live achievements are...whoops...
But when was the last time you heard, "Oh man!"
"What is it?"
"I'm playing Angry Birds and I just can't get this Game Center achievement!"

Please fix the frigging music app. It's all I care about.

Oh, and please get rid of Newsstand if I have only one magazine. It's a pain in the ass to access something that in the past was simply an icon on the home screen. And closing the magazine just to see another layer before the home screen? HORRID.

Say what you want about skeumorphism but in some ways (especially in the old ibooks and game center) it enhanced the content and gave the users a more immersive experience. I feel that the sterile and overly white space used in the iOS 7 versions are more distracting because it's a lot more difficult for some to navigate and it's less intuitive. It also gave the apps character and life whereas now it's dull and lifeless.

But seriously, I agree with most about the Music app. That is the one stock app that needs a complete overhaul. It made me stop using my iPhone as my iPod because it became so unusable :(

thank god you didnt post pictures of the hideousness of the current game center with the kindergarten style ballons.

...

If those changes are made to Notifications and the Games App is deleted, great. And I agree having to turn off Notifications in every single app is a pain in the neck.

I wish we had the option delete other apps (I don't use iMessages, Stocks amongst others) like iBooks too.

The less bloat and more simplification the better.
