yeah? how long have you worked there?

----------

if you believe these are either real or final, then the amateur is you.

I'm referring to the Healthbook icon and it could easily be real because they used the same awful design for their passbook icon.

good god MacRumors, what on earth makes you think these OSX icons pasted into a iOS screenshot is legit? Have you guys ever used an apple product?

It's amazing just how many people haven't read the article, but have chosen to post their useless opinion anyway.

Also, why do you 'experts' think it's fake? It's been 10 pages and no one has provided a rational reason beyond 'obvious fake lol'. Perhaps you should be honest and write 'To long did not read lol'.

It would be logical to assume that Apple tests many new features that don't always make it into their final product. We are still 3 months from WWDC so anything could happen.

We are still pretty early in the development of iOS8, so clearly they are placeholders that will have a icon that actually fits with iOS when they are shown to the public.

I'm sure some people will find these apps useful, but I would love it if Apple would give us a way to hide built in apps if we don't use them. There are getting to be quite a few and it's annoying to have to have the icons there when they don't get used.

kind of like Apple TV ..

On the other hand, what if Apple "bought out that shiny new Apple" ?

iOS7 is just a test bed, and we find out in iOS8, Apple has cleared the way, kept the flat icons, but got rid of transparency altogether, or (part)

The fading and/or zooming between apps/home screen is now gone, basically like iOS6 again, but with the flat icons of iOS7 and some other features..

That's it.

"legit" - yeah right...

it is. the photo is legit to what was posted on Weibo

Notes is there for the quick noting of 'stuff', and Pages does the whole lot.

yep. before Pages was free I might have believed that they would do a text edit but now that it is free if they want to support plain or rich text they could just add it as an export option.

----------

that Apple isn't planning on creating a first party tech tips app for the iPhone!

if they do it will likely only be for Apple stuff. and frankly it would be a great idea. too many folks have no clue what they are doing and don't know about the ibooks user guides.

----------

The 'Tips' app seems a bit weird. I though the whole philosophy of iOS was that it didn't need an instruction manual because it was so intuitive - is this a sign of how complicated and unintuitive iOS has become?

you clearly haven't been into an Apple to see all the granny mall walkers that horde around their workshops, Genius Bar etc

----------

If they add Preview and TextEdit, they might as well go whole-hog and give us a user-accessible filesystem (even if it's just one folder - some generic "Documents" folder).

what would be the need for making it user accessible. a common vault to reduce the headaches of the whole file sharing, having five copies of the same PDF because you have five apps you want to use it in etc sure. But a Finder. Why is it necessary (and because geeks want access doesn't qualify as necessary)

----------

Pages is only sort-of free.

That is, it's free as long as you opt to install the whole Pages/Numbers/iPhoto/Find My Friends package when iOS is first installed (only have to do this once per account), but otherwise it is not.

not true. i had no issues installing any of them on my iPhone 5S after saying no to the first screen. all of them were very free

----------

When people work on a project, they keep all files for that particular project in one folder all together so they can review the files and keep up to date with a particular project all at once.

You mean you keep it that way. But you aren't everyone. And just because you and perhaps many people keep your files like that on a computer, well iOS devices aren't computers. They aren't intended to be, etc

If you want a computer get a computer.

Can't you be honest with yourself? Look at that TextEdit icon. If you want a placeholder, why not use a blank app icon with the name underneath. This is just a cheap photoshop and a click bait.

So this is all about the icon? I suppose you can fill me in on what placeholder icons were used when Apple was experimenting with other apps?

If its a 'cheap photoshop and click bait' then why have insiders close to 9to5Mac claimed the icons in the image are legitimate?

Normally I would agree. A lot of nonsense here. But the icon clearly indicates that it records info about your food, heart, and blood. If not blood glucose, then what?

Blood pressure?

The point about blood glucose is that there currently is no accurate non-invasive way to measure that is approved by the FDA and EMA. The technologies are not developed enough and need some more years to get to market, and even longer in a size that can be built into a watch.

For those who are suggesting that there is no possible way these are placeholders, I suggest you look into original iPhone prototypes. The UI is was so god awful ugly that everyone would swear on their mother's graves that the product is nothing Apple.

A placeholder is just that, and item slapped in place of what will eventually go there just so that something may be there today while testing is done. Not sure why using already made images from another one of their OS's is so out of the question for people.

I find it odd that anyone who frequents MacRumors would question leaks that come from Mark Gurman. He is literally the ONLY person whose leaks can be trusted. His sources have proven themselves to be legit.

The problem here is that the probably legit leak from Gurman is covered in nonsense from other rumors. Macrumors tries to write a good article about it and connect this with previous rumors, but forgets to fact check some of that content. This reduces the news value of the leak from Gurman.

Sometimes it is just better to make it lean and just report on the single piece of news that this is, without trying to tie it in with everything else that is going on. Don't bother if you cannot do the fact checking.

Apple doesn't typically use OS X icons as placeholders for iOS (as far as I can remember), so my first guess is that this is obviously fake.
Right, you would totally remember, because you work at Apple and know firsthand what placeholder icons they use. (Also, interesting to note that several of the original iPhone icons were taken from OS X Dashboard widget icons)

What If...

What just if... maybe... MAYBE... TextEdit and Preview will be Apps you CAN download from the App Store but you don't NEED to do so?! I guess that is what will happen. Healthbook WILL be included but the rest... Not so much.. Tips might be removed completely as well.

You heard it here first!

Our prayers have not been heard

..assuming this to be legit: Looks like they're still keeping up that cartoonish design language. All of our complaining about iOS 7, all our prayers for an iOS that would somehow feel like a warm home... apparently, it hasn't worked. (however, one might hope that Apple at least will have the decency to give us an iOS that will work out of the box, and that will not make a significant number of iDevices unusable)

Personally, I'm starting to feel more and more passive-aggressive towards Apple. I've invested so much in the Apple ecosystem, and can't really envision switching to android. Still, I feel so extremely let down and estranged by this abomination that is iOS 7. I'm not leaving. At least not yet. I'm just very very frustrated.

Mark Gurman from 9to5Mac has a 100% perfect track record when it comes to his own sources. Yeah, 100%, he’s never been wrong so far out of the 30 times he chimed in on something and it later got verified.

And now he’s saying:
"I have confirmed with several sources that these shots are legitimate"

Of course those OS X-esque icons are placeholders, but I would still expect those feature in iOS 8 judging by Gurman's accuracy.

If he claims he is confirming things, he is talking right out of his ass. No one outside of Apple can confirm things. I don't care if he is 100% right with his rumours. He either has inside information he is breaking NDA's to tell or he is just lucky with his guesses.

People will argue and argue that non Apple staff can confirm Apple things. And I just sit back and laugh at their ignorance.

iOS 7 looks like it was pulled up from these (rejected) prototypes.

I don't recall many false Apple rumours, and I don't care much either.

Idk if I'm in the minority or not but I refuse to wear any iWatch in place of a real watch. I would love to take advantage of this Healthbook tool b/c I already use a few health apps. But if wearing an iWatch is the only then I'll be disappointed... :(

INB4 "apple doesn't cater to you, bro"

If Apple made the equivalent of the UP band of the FitBit then I'd be good since I already wear the UP...and a watch. :D

Presumably the watch wouldn't have an always on face (if it has a face at all). So then, why not just wear Apple's watch and whatever other watch you wear? Is it an aesthetic thing?

Partially. But only b/c I've worn watches my entire life. Even as a young kid in elementary school I have worn watches. So if the face is not always on and the device is small (like the UP band) then I wouldn't be opposed. My thing is that I just don't want to walk around with 2 clocks. Haha!

He wouldn't have to be breaking the NDA's, just someone else would. Is that really so hard to believe? Hardware leaks are quite possibly the biggest leak of NDA and those happen quite regularly.

I am not saying this has to be true, but implying it likely isn't because an NDA must have been breached to do so (and therefore that cannot be) is quite a stretch.

I am sure quite the plethora of folks at Apple get a hold of early betas of software. It's sort of a necessary risk Apple has to take to test the software and get it production ready.
