I did facetime for about 30 minutes, and it worked fine on my iPod Touch latest generation. I was surprised at how fast it seemed. Obviously it was using WiFi. The battery stayed rather strong too.

No issued here, yet, however I am waiting to update my iPhone and my number 1 iPad, just in case there are app issues, or other things...

----------

My battery lasts for only 27 hours

Funny, I talked to someone with a new 5 and they were complaining that their battery 'only' lasted about 6 days. Six days? Mine lasts about 2 days, IF I'm lucky!

Well, yeah, that's why I left the Windows world many years ago. Android never charmed me enough to give it a serious try.

I'm with you on that.
Few devices to choose from, that's Apple's philosophy for the past decade or so. Still millions of them out there, with zillions of different combinations of settings and operating conditions. I don't have any serious issues with my phone, but others do as it seems.

I think it's an excellent strategy on Apples's part, and I think it's a way to minimize problems. I can only wonder how the people with the Mac Pro with the PCI slots had, as a matter of stability.

Just for those that are wondering about the combination of settings the formula is 2^(number of on/off or two setting switches)*3^(number of three position switches)*....

so, if there are 40 separate settings of toggle switches, that accounts for a trillion different combinations.
An open beta would be nice, I agree, like they did with Yosemite. Even though it would not reach the adoption rate that the final release has, as it's not everyone's cup of tea to be a beta tester. It could have helped with lots of bugs though.

They did bite off a lot with this upgrade; in combination with iPhone 6/6+ release with the new screen sizes.

Good for you.

I did not post anything about android. I just asked you a simple question and you seem to be furious about it.

2 clicks through your public profile to check if you are a troll/hater or not is not stalking. Get real.

"Just from $649." And it "just works" for most of the people. If it does not cover "basic functionality" for you, why would you possibly buy the latest one on its first week of release? You say you had the 5. I mean, it's not like you didn't know what to expect, right? It's not a hugely different experience, screen size apart. I have not seen the 6/6+ in person but I know what to expect from an iPhone. And it's not that I don't aknowledge the problems the iPhone might have.

Please don't answer back. I don't care if you like spending $1000 and then whine about it. Or not.

I see your just a Apple is perfect person

My 5 worked great until ios 7. Then it was a mess. Sure 4 or 5 updates helped but should a General release work with 4 quick updates. I was hoping the 6 would be better. I was wrong.

You said yourself that you were ignorant. No anger here

I returned the 6 today. Kinda of a waste of $$. It did make calls and sms worked well. Other than that. WiFi is questionable. Battery is terrible. But hey it's an iPhone. Give Apple a few months to fix what should have been working out of box

Hey if can spend the money. Cool for me. I can care less about you and your somewhat functional phone.

So please don't answer back. I don't want to hear your drivel. Enjoy the best almost working phone on the market

I have iOS8 installed on my 5 and 6. I noticed the battery drain on the 5 even with the use of my Mophie case. In fact it seemed to drain the Mophie case faster than what I was experiencing in iOS 7. As for the 6 I had it at 100% at 7 am today and right now 6;:38 pm with only moderate use all day with WiFi and Bluetooth on I am now down to 6%. Didn't Apple have this problem before but an iOS update fixed it?

Could you show your battery usage? Especially the ip6 wonders me, as my ip6+ easily goes to 2-3 days.

Every iPhone has similar issues. More to the point, pretty much every complex electronic gadget released has issues.

Yet the myth of Apple having higher build quality and better standards continues, even after the years of fiascos like AntennaGate, battery replacement, home button replacements, recalls etc.

People need to realize iPhone's aren't any better built, don't use any special materials and aren't magic. They're just phones made by the same Chinese workers as everyone else. Apple isn't your best buddy looking out for your interests. They cut corners (1GB ram) and make money like any other company.

So true. They have lots of people brainwashed. Apple cares about 1 thing.
$$$$$$$$$

Anyone who says they care about their customers more than ANY other company is wrong. Money talks in the business world.

Your 6+ has a much larger battery than the 6 hence why you may be getting your 2-3 days use (I would kill for that). However I did notice in battery usage my lock screen was eating up 20% of the battery. Could this be to the use of TouchID? It still is a beautiful phone and I don't regret getting it. However, in the past, as I mentioned in my op, Apple did have a problem with their OS gobbling up the battery. I do recall it was fixed with an update. I think it was with either iOS 6 or 7. I remember reading an article about it on Macrumors.

I will try again tomorrow as my phone has fully drained and I am recharging it via an outlet. I'm going to turn off TouchID and see if that makes a difference.

iOS 8 Battery Drain: Possible Solution

Did you upgrade to iOS 8 and your battery is draining?! One possible solution for battery drain. Under Settings --> iTunes & App Store --> Suggested Apps -- turn both OFF. When on, your iPhone, regardless of location settings, constantly looks around for surrounding businesses/services to notify you to use their app on the lock screen. After I turned this off, my battery went from draining quickly to behaving as it did under iOS 7.

To each their own, I vastly prefer a factory image. But obviously people's preferences differ. I would FOR SURE put my own money down that, hardware issues aside, if they have a shot battery or etc, that the people who are having battery issues in this thread could solve their issue with a factory new image.

I'm glad that's an option for you, but for me there's no way I would consider having to reinstall all 483 of my apps and re-set all of their settings and lose all of the saved games in every game that doesn't use iCloud (which is the vast majority) and all of the PDFs in Adobe Reader and various other things in various other apps. One of the reasons I like iPhone is how well you can transfer from your old device to a new one.

Issues do inevitably pop up occasionally, but I always either find a solution or have it fixed by an update. (In this case, resetting my network settings fixed my wifi).

According to a certain article on Apple GSX, :apple: pay will be enabled on October 17, which is probably coming with the .0.1 or .0.2 update you guys are expecting.

Genius! Your suggestion seems to have solved the issue for me (knock on wood). I currently have TouchID on and it's been on all day. I started with 100% battery charge at 8am and at 5:53pm with TouchID on, Bluetooth and WiFi also on, moderate usage (e-mail, texting several people throughout the day, viewing YouTube videos, using Pages for note taking, surfing the web) I am currently at 62%. Not bad. Not as good as say the 6+, but I feel relieved I may NOT have a battery drainage problem.

Update: I turned off my 6 by 10 pm last night with 50% battery. With a bit more usage today than the day before, that included app installs and updates, the battery died by 4pm. So overall a day and half on one charge. I also noticed it charges quickly. It only took about 3 hours to charge to 100% from 0. Much better battery than on my old 5. Not bad at all.

Some Wifi Networks Not Showing Up?

So I'm at my local bar with my new 6 and need to re-enter their WiFi password of course. But their sever didn't even show up. None did. My friend connected on his Galaxy so I know it was working. Any thoughts? I have WiFi working just fine here at home.
I haven't noticed any new battery drain issues or slow WiFi but the batteries in these iPhones have never been real good. One lives with that on an iPhone or just turns everything off. Seems that by now they'd have just opened it up to spare batteries like the rest rather than fight this ongoing issue for a decade, but that's Apple for ya.

I had that yesterday on my iPad and rebooting it fixed it.

good info

'reset network settings" has helped for my iphone 6. Anyone know how I can do this on my home pc which is also suffering slow download speeds?

It's amusing to see all these arguments about the same battery issue that goes back more than a decade. Everyone ultimatelty advising to shut all the nice features down. Apple pushes updates that forever address poor battery performance and even changed the robust interface to washed out pastels. Why even have a smartphone if its features have to be disabled to get through the day?
We all know that users of iPhone or Macs never stray far from an outlet. You see um at the airport all the time, sitting on the floor stuck to a wall. That said, why won't Apple put a wee door on the ****ing product so one can replace the battery along the way, if only to shut everyone up? They'd make a fortch on battery sales. And ain't that what they're all about anyway....sales? Now the watch is coming out and guess what? Battery issues that's what. Tiz a puzzlement.

My wifi is so slow it took me 3 days to post this

^LOL

I would recommend changing your wireless router from WEP to WPA2. I have seen this recommended a couple times and this is what finally solved the slow wifi on my 6 Plus. My MacBook Pro and iPad Air running iOS 8 had no wireless issues, only the phone.

Reset Network Settings - FAIL
Disable Location Services Wifi - FAIL
Router setting WEP to WPA2 - SUCCESS

Now pull over 20Mbps! :D
