I don't want to jailbreak the device for security reasons and there is no jailbreak for 9.1. I just wanted to try it. Kodi isn't designed for a phone and drains the battery quickly.
Drains it just as fast as any other video program for me, of course if jb you will get hardware acceleration so that definitely helps a lot with battery consumption

Where does it say there is no hardware acceleration?

Either way I have no plans to keep it. There are much better video players suited for a phone. Kodi is meant for a tv.

Edit. According to the read me hardware acceleration works with iOS above 8.

That is false and already confirmed by one of the developers. Read the readme.

Which readme file and where is the link for that dev comment?
Anyways, here is what the official current readme file says (of course it hasn't been updated to iOS9):
https://github.com/xbmc/xbmc/blob/master/docs/README.ios
"Keep in mind that no hardware acceleration will be possible without jailbreaking when using iOS < Version 8."

If it wasn't possible I am sure memphiz would have something.

I see you have posted a few hundred posts there, but you are asking about it just now and no answer on your thread link from before or from right now...

Your post again:
That is false and already confirmed by one of the developers. Read the readme. I have it enabled
Again, show me your readme and the dev comment.
I'm still waiting for your official readme link that stated that hard acc. works on nonjb and also the confirmation dev comment of what you said in your post or is your previous reply post just false/fictitious?

What do you think these symbols mean? < > Since you don't know it means less than and greater than. Maybe this thread would put it to rest. I mean read post 56. I am not sure what is difficult to understand.

Section 8 mentions everything that differs from runing jailbroken and non-jailbroken (mainly documents location on the device due to sandbox and the hw acceleration on ios < 8).

Anyway I'm done with this.

sigh, I think your english might be worse than his...

anyways...

I'm glad you actually replied something interesting after the fact and actually asked there, good to see they finally figured out how to fix the video tool box issues on it. Yes, I know apple opened the vtb apis after 8 and afaik its only for >a7 devices. But that wasn't why you couldn't have it on ios9 before a jb was available ;)
