I can't disagree more with my experience. I'm getting fantastic battery life with iOS 9. Massive improvement over 8.3 and 8.4.

On iOS 8, I have typically been down to around 65% at lunch and 35% by 7PM, pushing completely dead by the time I go to bed if I don't hit a charger at some point in the day. On iOS 9, I'm usually at around 75-80% at lunch and 65% or so at 7 if I don't plug in. Without charging, I've plugged in at 11PM with 35% left.

Which version? PB1 gave me about the same battery life as 8.4. PB2 ran the battery down at twice the rate of PB1, even after many attempts to turn everything off in settings, many resets and a complete reinstallation from scratch.

For me, PB1 & 2 gave me same as 8.4, give or take, until FB messenger did an update Friday.

if I delete an email, go to another account, then back to the account I deleted the email on it shows up again and then disappears. Every time.

Now my iMessage seems to have crashed and has a "1" stuck on it. If I can get it open, there are no pictures and most of my messages aren't there when I open them. I rebooted the phone with the same result.

Can you do a quick rundown of what I'll lose if I clean install, but sync with iTunes first?

Could do backup, then clean install and restore from backup, that is a first step. Rather than full drastic clean install.

thanks maybe I'll try that. I've carried over my iOS from the 3GS through all phones, so it might be time.

if I put it in DFU mode to restore it only allows 8.4, and I can't restore 9 beta 4 then, right?

actually could I restore to 8.4, upgrade to 9 beta 4, and then restore my 9 beta 4?

PB2. This is me right now- on pace for 7.5 hours of usage with 20 hours of standby. That's so much better than anything I ever got on iOS 8.

Well yesterday was a bad performance day on beta 4 it got so bad with delays, stickiness that some 3rd party apps were just so dragy that it was like playing catch up with huge delays from me entering data to a reply.

So last night I once again reverted back to 8.4 hey if nothing else I'm getting good at restoring and backing up lol my OTHER actually is down to only 250 mb never seen it that low lol

Battery life was not an issue it was just using the phone and the lag. I wanted my phone back with quick responses in typing and reaction.

I won't be trying any more betas and will wait for official release.

Battery life typically drops after the 50% mark so you'll probably end up with less than 7.5 hrs.

Perhaps. But on 8.4, I'd have been at around 55% with the same usage and standby. And 7.5 hours of usage is a ton. I can easily get through a full day now, 7AM to 11PM without worry.

4S thoughts thus far:

So far 4S performance on PB2 is pretty stable. About the same "speed" as 8.4 but with much smoother animations I am finding. Especially unlocking the phone, and swiping between screens, there is no longer any "stuttering" or "frame drops" as there noticeably was with iOS 8 on the 4S. Its not as fast as my 5S but it feels more "solid" than iOS 8. Also I've noticed the App store loads much faster than it did in iOS 8. This was a nice surprise.

Widgets load quickly, almost instantaneous (seems to be better than iOS 8 where there was a pause) - But animation to drop down notification centre is a step too laggy though and un responsive at times. Same thing with control centre. Though after swiping up and down a few times, it does improve but its still a "step" too slow

My biggest peeve with the PB2, is the keyboard is very laggy and there is a delay with typing. This is what I am finding most annoying about PB on 4s so far, as this isn't an issue with my 5s.

App launch delay is annoying, it is here as well - same thing on 5s (and other users have mentioned they've experienced it too)

Battery is better than 8.4 - so far I've managed about an extra hour of battery life than iOS 8, but I have not focused on testing that yet more so performance and app bugs. For reference my last iOS 8 battery test was just over 3 hours before I needed to recharge, whereas this about about 4 hours. I did not use power saver mode, and I was downloading and installing a ton of apps.

I ran into a bunch of bugs that I've sent off to apple via feedback.

Initial iOS 9 impressions on the 4s are much more positive than iOS 8.

Further to this, appears to be a major improvement today. Not as good as prior to the FB Messenger update, sort of halfway between the periods. Could be because I actively killed FB messenger in app switcher tho.

Not sure what you're trying to do...

DFU install from scratch, then get my 9 beta 4 backup reinstalled. I feel like there's something wrong with my phone and I don't have an "archive" of 8.4. But I can only DFU to 8.4, not 9b4

Curious at what point in the beta process the "speed, stability and smoother animations" Apple promised on stage kicks in. We are 6 weeks out from release. (Yes I know we dont know the day but its always mid September, so spare me that rant)
This, X1000.

Seems to have helped with speed. I do notice I still have all photos from contact missing.
