Given how popular selfies are an improved FaceTime camera makes sense. The question is whether they'll just do the minimum and bump it to 1080p video and 1920x1440 (2.8 MP) for photos or will they be aggressive and put in a photo-optimized camera say with 5 MP support?

you're getting ahead now... the iPhone 7 will have the 5MP. Apple needs to go step by step no jumps allowed. #GetThatMoney

Not only did we revolutionize the way you take selfies, we removed the unnecessary back camera to make the iPhone 6Selfie a thinnest phone ever made, we moved the display to the back of the phone so that your friends will have a live view of the selfie you're about to take. It's magical.

Don't say those kinds of things when I'm taking a drink.

Curious if it will be an actual flash module or they take the Mac's PhotoBooth functionality and just flash the display in all white at full brightness. Should work for selfies.
Based on the headline that was what I was thinking, but once I looked at the screen and saw it's checking the device to see if flash is supported, I would bet it's a standalone flash, because a bright white "flash" on the screen would be supported on literally every device.

An S model of an iPhone with an improved camera.... Anyone else saw this coming?

It's the right area to improve though, I'm glad apple is constantly improving the photo/video capabilities. They just have to do away with the 16Gb model as files sizes increase.

True Innovation.
In the meanwhile: Isn't 2MPX basic standard and 5MPX more or less the premium offering from Sony/Samsung & Co.

MacBook is only 480p right?
*shivers* Yup. Just like how the original MacBook Air had a backlit keyboard and the current design didn't and then Apple re-added it with the 2011 upgrade. Proves the MacBook was pushed out too soon. Especially now since Thunderbolt 3 will run off of the same connector leaving a lot of early buyers scratching their heads why they newly acquired Thunderbolt 3 drive doesn't do a thing on their $1400 MacBook.

Getting back on topic: I never ever used the cam on the front of my iPhone 5. I'm not one of the "selfie-kind", so I don't really care about it. Still neat.

More importantly, when will the front-facing (FaceTime Camera) automatically flip the the image horizontally to match the backside camera image. Unless your face is completely symmetrical or you're Christy Turlington, you will not look the same in an image that is horizontally flipped.

That's already how it works - while you're taking the picture its mitt or style, meaning you can use it as a mirror so it's perfect for sorting out your hair or whatever, then when the picture's taken its flipped round as though taken from another person's perspective. It's the perfect solution in my opinion.

All these advanced cameras on one device seems so wasteful to me. Can't they just include one and rotate part of it somehow (inside the body so there are no external moving parts, not like the Oppo), maybe using a little internal mirror?

if you hold the home button, it will turn in to a selfie stick. The thinnest one out there.

Made out of alu-mi-ni-um . We call it the iSelfie
and it won't come out if it's not a pre-programmed fingerprint of the user.

We re-thought the selfie stick and how the user can learn its benefits easily and intuitively................

We also introduced Forceview sensing. So,
when the people in picture are ugly, the stick retracts automatically

plus the post above good one:)

Maybe the next iPhone will be called the iPhone 7 so that may explain all of these rumors about significant upgrades to the rear/front cameras, 2GB RAM, Force Touch, etc. iPhones would also have a higher number with next year's iPhone 8 being "greater" than next year's Samsung S7. I know that's BS, but when it comes to marketing to some people, it might be a significant difference, at least from a superficial perception. It may look the same or almost the same as the 6.

Not interested. Waiting for the actual (rear) camera upgrade, the Iphone 6 is really dragging behind the competition.

Also hope we'll find out clues about Force Touch in iOS9

Apple doesn't have to wait until next year's model to have 5MP. The minimum they've had for 1080p video recording in an iOS device is 5MP, so that is the most likely.

I do see your point about the Galaxy names, but I don't think they'll ever stop with the "S" models, since it goes very well with the 2-year contracts and people who are not too familiar with the differences they bring.
