I am still waiting for the "Close all Apps" button. I hate swiping up all the running apps.

So stop doing that. All of those apps aren't necessarily "running," that's just a list of apps you've launched in the past few weeks. You're wasting your time swiping up on all of them, all of the time.

I can't figure out why neither of my devices (iPhone 5 and iPad Air 2) have the battery widget. Does anyone know? I'd like to be able to see the percentages quickly but most of the time don't like to see percentage in the status bar.

I think you have to have an Apple Watch paired for that feature to activate.

So how large is the icon grid of a folder on the iPad Pro?

Why bother swiping them off? They aren't actually "running". It's a "Recent Apps" list, where their frozen states are saved to be able to launch faster next time.

How can I make the mute button into a screen rotation lock?
This is a great feature, now you don't have to pull up and pause the video when switching to landscape view

I'm not having any luck with the AT&T wifi calling activation. It keeps telling me that it's not available in my area. Anyone else having any luck?

I spoke with AT&T Yesterday and wifi calling will be rolled out once the FTC approves it...so who knows

For me the crap currently are "stocks, tips, Find my friends, apple watch." Stoked that Newsstand is finally gone!! Runners up "Reminders, Wallet" but these 2, I might use down the road. Just found a way on YouTube to hide the 4 apps, that works on my iPad mini as well. All other apps I am fine with as I use them.
newstand is now standalone...apple put it back on ...check your last page

You only need to close apps that way if an app is misbehaving. Totally unnecessary under normal circumstances.

or, if an app is set to update in the background, right? You wouldn't want an app updating all night long when you are a sleep would you?

I believe that's an iPad-only feature.

neat... i may go with iOS 9

"Go back to App" seems like neat cool feature. If not abit u could use talk switcher
Low Power mode - looks good, but i wonder why if Apple wanted to save more power why don't just just siwtch it all into Airplane mode ? That's basically what your doing, except here you'd be only "nit-piching at visuals" as wel..

That's all great, but i would have thought RF is the biggest killer.

battery usage by apps,, at last something that i can actually enjoy.

I think Apple want u do search from ANY location on the phone... its the only reason why they would include it in Settings app... but being limited to settings only, is still good. (I haven't finished yet)

Photo app folders, are good touch, however if Apple allowed u to "create your own folders" here and name them anything u like, then that too would be good.

Lowercase letters :D

and Hand off... well not interested...

(oh, now back to the scheduled forum)

Home Sharing is turned on on both Macbook and iPhone, iTunes is open, signed in with Apple ID on both, but it doesn't show up where it should in My Music. Where is it???

It took me awhile to find this myself ... Go to "My Music" tab --> Tap on the sort (i.e. Artists) --> You should get a Pop-up showing Home Sharing.

HTH

tMH
and before someone says this, no it's not there.

Airplane mode would make most the phone's usefulness no longer working, the point of low power mode is that you can still use the phone for calls, messages, email, web, and apps, just that there are some battery savings at the cost of disabling some other settings that don't disable the smartphone features themselves.

How the hell do we access home sharing in the iOS 9 music app?

In "My Music" in the Music app and just under "Recently added" there's a drop down menu for Artists, Albums, Songs etc. Home sharing is at the bottom of that list. Nicely hidden.

Needs to be switched on in Settings > Music > Home Sharing too. And the remote library available of course.

If you don't have at least one file in your music there is no menu and no home sharing

I have no music stored on my 5s and I still have the menu. I have bought music (not stored locally) from iTunes including that free U2 album so maybe that's the difference.

or, if an app is set to update in the background, right? You wouldn't want an app updating all night long when you are a sleep would you?

But they don't! They only update if there is anything to update, and only if you allow "background updates" in the settings.

If allowed, iOS understands when you are most likely to be using an app, and updates 'just' before. These times are not disclosed to you, but let's say if you have breakfast and access your news app at 8am, the app will be updated by 7 - not all night long.

"Go Back to App" on iPhone 6 is basically 3D Touch for the poor.
Of for people who prefer to stick with a higher capacity iPhone for two years instead of getting an entry-level one every year. It actually ends up costing the same to go with either of those two options. Personally, I prefer to have more storage than get a new phone every year. 64 gigabytes vs 16? I'd go with 64 gigabytes and keep it for a couple years. I actually don't think I could function with 16 gigabytes.

There are quite a few major changes in iOS 9, like split-screen multitasking for the iPad, improvements to search and Siri, under-the-hood performance boosts, and revamped apps, but there are also dozens if not hundreds of lesser-known tweaks and refinements that make the iOS 9 experience better than ever before.

We've had a lot of hands-on time with iOS 9, so we've rounded up a list of the best hidden features in new operating system. These are great little changes you're going to want to know about, so make sure to check out the video and the list below.

Settings search - There's a new search bar in the Settings app that lets you quickly locate a specific setting by typing in what you're looking for. Want Siri settings? Search for Siri, and all the settings options for Siri will be shown in a list.

Go Back to App - When you tap on a Notification or a link in Safari or another app and it opens a new app, you can go back to the previous app using a handy new "Go Back" button. The "Go Back" button will stick around for about a minute before disappearing, so you can switch quickly between apps if you just want to glance at something real quick.

Battery settings - To go along with all the new battery features in iOS 9, there's a new dedicated "Battery" section in the Settings app, where Low Power Mode can be turned on. It also displays more detailed battery usage information that can be sorted by apps using the most and the least amount of power. With Low Power Mode, background activity, motion effects, and animated wallpapers are disabled. Battery information is also displayed in the Notification Center, for the Apple Watch, iOS devices, and some other connected devices like wireless headphones.

I noticed that you can iOS 9 also lets you save a webpage as a PDF. And you can access Apple Pay from the lock screen just by pressing the Home button twice. And the old Spotlight search (on the left of the first home screen) has been restored.

I don't remember if this feature was in iOS 8 and I just missed it, or if it's new. Perhaps someone can correct me here. Pretty neat though.

When you go into TouchID & Passcode settings, rest you finger on the home button and if it's a registered digit, the corresponding fingerprint item goes dark to indicate a match. Nice.

I have to say, the battery widget is probably the most useless thing I've ever seen. If you're curious what your battery is at, look slightly higher past the widget to the top right of your iPhone's screen.

It does show the battery for my watch as well. If it showed other devices like your laptop, it could be very useful if you're wondering what the charge is for that device in your bag.

Is the time in Bold, or is there a font mismatch?

Newsstand is now just a folder containing all magazines downloaded or purchased previously. It can be removed as easy as removing other folders.

Maybe someone has already mentioned.
This feature is already available in iOS 8, maybe 7.
