I've tried Google Now on Android and the Search app on iPhone, I do like what it provides. Hopefully Proactive provides a more polished experience on iPhone. It'll be interesting to see if Proactive examines your emails to alert you of information like Google Now does.

My concern is how invasive this becomes. I'm not convinced software can be that clairvoyant. I don't want my phone or watch lighting up with every little thing the software is programmed to think I might be interested or need to know. I just read a review in the WSJ about Android Wear that complained about this very thing. There's a fine line where this goes from being helpful to being annoying.

Yup like the safety features on many cars now that beep when when other cars are near you. Soooo annoying.

I’m surprised no one is mentioning that this is just an evolved “Today” view with widgets built in. Right now “Today" view tells me the weather based on my location, my next appointment and (if a location is attributed) how long it would take to get there, Transit widget tells me which busses are near me and when they are coming, Parcel tell me my delivers statuses and more.

Now obviously, Today is not a feature rich as Now is –*but this looks like it can bridge the gap.

Lord knows I need more proactive lifestyle management! Now if only I had the type of lifestyle that needed proactive management I'd be all set.

Why do I need to point my finger somewhere to access Siri? Why can't I just tell her directly?

“Nobody wants a stylus” (January 2007)

“If you see a stylus, they blew it.” (April 2010)

Same with using a finger, to access voice recognition.

Voice recognition isn't next. Maybe at home or car but I refuse to be standing next to a moron who refuses to quietly use his device with his HID (called a finger) and instead is loudly yelling at a device to open an app.

Voice recognition is next. People who drive cars or are alone don't want to waste time inputting data into a device if they can simply speak to it instead.
