i still think why jailbreak, after we get hotspot from long time ago, can't remeber what iOS version its annonce but from the time the hotspot coming default on iOS i never have jailbreaket it agin, so i can't get the point in jailbreak?

and now Swift 2.0 can be installed whitout jailbreaking?

Good I'm one of the people that jailbreak. Now I can simulate Force Touch on my iPad Mini 2 and can't wait until someone enables Split View on iPad Mini 2.

EDIT: Medusa brings Split view on unsupported iPads. That was fast!
Thanks for the heads up. I was actually excited about this, but after messing around with the "multitasking", it seems more practical to just switch apps one full screen at a time, to me.

As much as people here hate on jailbreak and hacks but you may not realize how much they help Apple. Apple iOS isn't perfect and there's security holes. Just about every iOS update Apple credits and thanks the jailbreak groups for finding the security hole. These people are not the ones hiding behind computers and stealing personal info. These people are the good hackers. They attend security tech events and conventions to help out companies like Apple. If they did something illegal wouldn't they be arrested on site? Nope, these people are thanked by Apple and even paid big bucks for helping companies find security holes. They're keeping iOS safe by reporting it to Apple to keep it from the wrong kind of people.

Here's a couple of the iOS updates that Apple is crediting jailbreak groups like tiag, pangu, and others.

iOS 9 https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT205212

iOS 8.4.1 https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT205030

iOS 8.1.1 https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT204418

True. Anyone who's been jailbreaking since the beginning, knows that damn near half of the features we have on the iPhone, were first brought by the hackers. We owe jailbreaking a debt of gratitude for countless features we enjoy today. It was the same thing for the PSP. It'd get new features from hackers, and then Sony would implement them in the updates. Half of the time, Apple and Sony implementations of hack/jailbreak features aren't even as good as the original.

People still jailbreak?

Yes.
And I jailbreak not to enjoy third party features - but Apple's own features...

Jailbreak allows...
Split Screen multitasking on all devices including iPhone;
Home Screen Force Touch Shortcuts on all devices;
Take Live Photos on all devices;
Reverting back to the old switcher instead of the new, clunky one that makes no sense on devices other than 6s and 6s Plus (No side swipe gesture);

I was honestly surprised at how good Split Screen works on iPad Air and iPad mini 2. It is Split Screen + Picture in Picture all together that has less than perfect smoothness. Shame that Apple disabled the whole thing just to avoid that one edge case (or to sell more new iPad). Heck, once both apps are loaded, Split Screen multitasking even works reasonably well on A5 devices with 512MB of RAM.

Also, there's no reason Apple couldn't implement Home Screen app shortcuts on older devices. They've already moved Spotlight to the first screen, just disable that (laggy) scroll down gesture, then allow swiping up or down on any app icon to view shortcut options. The jailbreak implementation actually only remaps the gesture and uses Apple's code. It's really great.

For people who don't want to shell out hundreds of bucks to upgrade their hardware every year to get useful new features, jailbreak is a great option.

No thanks I quite like my walled garden that is mostly safe from virus and hacking. Oh and they are Chinese which of course don't have a high trust status nowadays!

Yet, you know 100% sure that if they put split screen on older devices everyone here would whine about it non stop... So...

True.
But Apple did not disable Split Screen to please any whiners who may potentially run two demanding apps [Flyover tour + Game (a supported one)] and a 1080p PIP video at the same time. They did so to sell more new iPad.

Um ... what? First of all ... you have to pay to use that hotspot. You don't just get a hotspot. Not only that ... they charge you an entirely different amount for a limited bandwidth cap. I have unlimited data ... so jailbreaking allows me to tether my phone with unlimited data without having to pay for some crappy 16 GB hotspot cap that's entirely different from my regular data.

I tried this tip, because while I like f.lux, I would have settled for a decent screen dimmer. But this work-around has problems beyond what has been mentioned so far, like being broken in landscape mode.

If Apple's not going to allow f.lux, they should at least extend the range of dimness in their own Settings.

Edit: removed mention of app that I thought might help, because it doesn't.

Explain how I am going to consume terabits/bytes of data with a throttled 1 Mbps connection. Can't even download anything...:p
Oh I see what you were saying. It sounded like you were getting past the throttle. I know of people that jailbreak their phones for that purpose and it bugs me as all they are doing is indirectly forcing others to pay for their selfishness. I believe in everyone getting along and paying appropriately for their services. Not taking advantage of others. I hereby redact my earlier comment. Didn't realize what you meant.

yeah you tell us! because only those two things make a jailbreak worth it...

...
And I too use about 40GB/month, as this is my radio, and I listen to it as I work, or sometimes I'll listen to a movie while I work (It's a take my mind off of the jibber/jabber going on around me).
just listening to anything all day won't consume 40gb ;)

removing the throttling by jailbreaking is not possible lmao its done from the carrier side.

V1.0.1 (2015-10-15)

1.Fix a bug that leads to 0A error code.

2.Fix failure of launching on some PC.

3.improve success rate.

4.Ensure the removal of the Pangu app

does anybody know what they mean by "substrate" in relation to it being Cydia Subrate? I have never heard the term before. Please enlighten me.

I thought that except for f.lux, jailbreaking might be pretty pointless on iOS 9. But after one day of using the JB I have to say, Force Touch(/long-press) shortcuts and split-screen multitasking on old iPads are absolutely fantastic. This might actually be the most useful JB ever.

I jailbreak to be able to use anything that ios Cannot and will never do. My favorites are

Tetherme, Callbar, Activator, Apphide, bioprotect, nudekeys, cameratweak3, clearlocknotifications, cylinder, flex, f-lux, icleaner, ifile, keyswipe, minimal hud, mirmir, reachapp, onetapclear, opennotifier, albumshots, colorbanners, colorbadges, preferenceorganizer 2, safaridownloader+, slidetokill, social duplicator, super recorder, videopane, IMN, zeppelin and last but not least Kodi (former XBMC)

Some people say jailbreaking is for pirates but a reputable jailbreaker despises piracy,
just check out https://www.reddit.com/r/jailbreak - piracy is frowned upon over there...

A few reasons to jailbreak: app icons look better (themes - mine is called "Zoobhoy"), better (adjustable) lock screen (mine shows an animation of the position of the sun), control center is actually useful (I want to be able do disable mobile data and location services when I'm at home on wifi to save battery), it's easier to tidy up your home screen with a tweak called apex 2 which can unfold apps hiding behind other apps. All to be seen here: http://imgur.com/a/0qKur

It also runs more stable, I only had some minor instabilities on iOS 9 before jailbreaking (for example not being able to hang up or swipe to close the phone app, happened a few times) but none after, it runs perfectly stable. f.lux makes your sleep healthy ( https://justgetflux.com/research.html ). when a thieve enters a wrong passcode, the phone takes a picture of him and emails it to me and also turns on an alarm which he can't disable. But my all time favourite tweak is virtualhome: I don't ever have to actually press the home button, just touching the touch id sensor is enough, it's so relaxing (and good for the button)...

When apple implements all these features in iOS 20, I will consider not jailbreaking.

iOS 9 jailbreak / Rock steady!! Best since iOS 5.1.1.. No slow down or worse battery load. Unless you like animated widgets.. and that would be obvious why you'd run down battery..

Who wouldn't want their phone to potentially look like this..
