Well I have AT&T and I can't tether at all with my unlimited plan so this is my only option
I'm going to quibble with you on that, but I'll give you this: It's your only viable option.

I, too am grandfathered in to the unlimited, but you may want to look at T-Mobile's options, as they have a huge data plan that they get mad at something like 200GB/month ("get mad" means throttling), so that may work for you.

As for the quibble, there are ToS on those plans, and violating contract law does have its consequences, whether they dump you, or come after you for $$$ (I'm guessing it'll be the first).

There are ways around what is here below, but it's not that hard for them to tell who is tethering or not. What they do with that is kind of a mystery...
http://android.stackexchange.com/qu...-companies-detect-tethering-incl-wifi-hotspot

And I too use about 40GB/month, as this is my radio, and I listen to it as I work, or sometimes I'll listen to a movie while I work (It's a take my mind off of the jibber/jabber going on around me).

I used to, but not since I enrolled in Apple Pay. I admittedly know little about the process behind the scenes, but that's just a little too much exposure.

This is the same reason I won't do it anymore either.

I honestly don't get it, at this point in time. With all of the hacks, exploits, etc. out there, and the fact that Android software and hardware has evolved to the point where it's a viable option for someone who wants a higher level of customization.

To each his own, I suppose. But I would never jailbreak iOS anymore.

What if someone wants customization AND all the benefits of the iPhone? That's why I (and most other people) jailbreak.

There's absolutely nothing to worry about with Apple Pay and jailbreaking. It's on a totally different part of the hardware that's not accessible by any jailbreak tweaks.

I stopped jailbreaking after iOS 5 was released. I see no point of exposing myself to the malware.

Believe it or not, a jailbroken phone can be more secure than one that isn't jailbroken. Typically the exploits used to jailbreak are the biggest vulnerabilities and are able to be patched after the jailbreak process, whereas others will have to wait for Apple to patch it.

Debating waiting for 9.1 first before JB'ing. Don't wanna have to do it twice with the amount of tweaks I throw on the device.

The jailbreak is already patched in the 9.1 betas, you'll be waiting a while after 9.1 public release is out before getting a new jailbreak.

Yeah, it's a much smarter idea. It's much faster than 9.0.2 and it's still on the beta stages.

If I were on iOS 9 and wanted to jailbreak, I'd wait until like 9.1.x or 9.2.x (if any), so that way I'd be staying on stable version.

But I'm not. I'm on 8.4.1 (which is really stable and fast) and ready to jailbreak. :p

Apple already patched it in the 9.1 betas, which is why the jailbreak was released now.

I don't get it etheir. Seems to me the security risks outweigh any benefit at this point.

It depends on who's using it. For me the security risks are not very high.

As for security advantages I will give you a single anecdote where I was better off: I had the Goto Fail bug fixed on my phone a good while before Apple released anything.

Still I will skip JB this round. Not as much incentive for me anymore - but that can always change.

Can you side-load tweaks that let you customize the Control Center, like FlipControlCenter? Can you side-load Activator, a system tweak that lets you use custom gestures to control almost anything? Can you side-load Apple File Conduit 2, which brings back the old "use as a hard drive" functionality Apple used to offer on the old iPods but doesn't allow anymore?

Basically, for many jailbreakers this has nothing to do with installing non-approved apps - it's about adding functionality that iOS proper won't have for several more years, if at all.
I still can remember the old day when using an iPod classic as a small hard disk to store some other files on that and carry around.

That iPod classic is just awesome. Unfortunately I have no chance to touch it anymore.

security risks may not be very high on a phone, but when it comes to the cloud and your AppleiD get hacked, all of a suddenly terror sets in....

I dunno why Apple just can't check for a known JB code, and if found, refuses to restore in iTunes... I'm sure that can easily be done from Apple's side... But they would rather trust their users.

If Apple says "do this at your own risk." they should stand by that.

You jailbreak, so you already know what your doing.. u shouldn't have the option to restore for legit use or for repair under Apple care since u violated their EULA anyway with no return.

I like the fact of more customization than what Apple gives, but they are not exactly being strong here by any means.

Purely a personal opinion but, as someone who has jailbroken every iPhone they've owned, I think iOS9 is the first one I don't feel the need to do it on. Mainly because most of the great ideas in iOS have been pinched from great jailbreak tweaks.
I want to find custom ringtones that go directly to my tones library and I'm still waiting on bitesms I want that feature badly. I told myself when I bought my 6s that there's no need to jailbreak..me coming from the 4s I'm anxiously waiting for the Mac JB version to be released

Couple of questions...
Have you ever read and understood the Apple EULA?
If you ever jail broke, did you change your core root password? Apple has a default value.

now ios can share gallery photo to almost any apps, content blocker in safari to block ads, i find myself dont need to jb anymore. the only thing i miss is auxo tweak. what it does is when you swipe up from the bottom edge screen, it will show you recent apps, and when you swipe up further, it will close the current app and back to homescreen. just like blackberry os 10 does. and you can whitelist some apps like games so you dont accidentally close the games while playing it. man i wish ios does that. saves home button too, and dont tell me to force touch from sides to show up recent apps, not everybody have an iphone 6s. i dont want an iphone 6s because i feel the 5s is the perfect size for me.

In other words,

Apple Refuses to Comment on Major Security Scandal

Perfect headline for tomorrow's tabloid.

Tempted but Apple really dropped the mic when they allowed ad-blockers in iOS 9. That was one of my main reasons to JB.

My others are background YouTube audio and Activator which is so so useful, but are they worth it? Hmmm, decisions decisions...

You can use Tubex for that.

As much as people here hate on jailbreak and hacks but you may not realize how much they help Apple. Apple iOS isn't perfect and there's security holes. Just about every iOS update Apple credits and thanks the jailbreak groups for finding the security hole. These people are not the ones hiding behind computers and stealing personal info. These people are the good hackers. They attend security tech events and conventions to help out companies like Apple. If they did something illegal wouldn't they be arrested on site? Nope, these people are thanked by Apple and even paid big bucks for helping companies find security holes. They're keeping iOS safe by reporting it to Apple to keep it from the wrong kind of people.

Here's a couple of the iOS updates that Apple is crediting jailbreak groups like tiag, pangu, and others.

iOS 9 https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT205212

iOS 8.4.1 https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT205030

iOS 8.1.1 https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT204418

Good I'm one of the people that jailbreak. Now I can simulate Force Touch on my iPad Mini 2 and can't wait until someone enables Split View on iPad Mini 2.

EDIT: Medusa brings Split view on unsupported iPads. That was fast!

I still jailbreak. I do it because of the add-ins I can install for other apps like Twitter or Instagram, or Safari. Some tweaks look and work great and add great functionality.

I still jailbreak. The tweaks and all are fun but the biggest plus is the ability of using my SD cards to increase HD space on my ipad!

Yes, and be thankful they do, given how many features of iOS that have been implemented which are ripoffs of jailbreak tweaks.

Omg I've never jailbreaked but there are SO MANY features that I just don't understand why Apple can't just build for us natively that it makes me mad.

MANY
GREAT
AND
SIMPLE
FEATURES

SO; WHYYYY!!!???
