Are all the capabilities advertised for h264 videos such as hw decoding, native AirPlay in MKV etc, also true for "x264" videos? Not sure of the difference (if any) between h/x ? Thanks

Yes.

x264 is an open source implementation of H.264 (AVC), so all the same features will apply.

Thanks, just purchased! What a great app... Takes a while to fetch metadata but other than that, wow :)

Shocked how little options/settings there are in the app, I'm guessing everything is done for you? If so, what a smart app!

Would love to see IMDB integration!

Also a Cydia add on to provide file system navigation to add local videos would be awesome :p

Great! Glad to hear you're enjoying it.

Infuse does a quite a bit in behind the scenes, so you can focus on the content you want to watch instead of fiddling with settings to get it to work.

We've still got a few more great things coming later this year, so stay tuned.

Hello all,
just joined macrumours after installing "infuse" on my iPad, such a great and easy app, thanks a lot.
Is it ever likely to get it on my iMac ?????.
Cheers

Happy to hear you're enjoying it!

We have a number of features planned for release on iOS over the next few weeks, but don't have an ETA right now for a Mac version. Sorry.

I tried to find another thread that I was in but couldn't.

I ended up taking the plunge and have enjoyed the app for the most part. I use xbmc as my host. Whenever I try to load a list of movies through infuse it crashes. When I load a list of anything else it does fine.

I can file a bug report but I'm in bed now and just picked the easy way out lol.

Hmm, sorry about that. Please drop us a note from within the app and we can assist.

It's a great app which i bought mainly because of the Chromecast support. I already had nPlayer but that lacks quite a few features (e.g. opensubtitles, Chromecast, automatic metadata download).

I do hope a future version will have background playback available similar to the AllCast app. The AllCast app lacks support for most AVI and MKV files to play correctly e.g. because of AC3 audio. Infuse does support this. I only found one AVI file that didn't play on my Chromecast (no button was visible in the app) probably because the Chrome SDK doesn't support this or because the Chromecast feature is still in Beta with Infuse.

Thanks for the kind words.

We're working on a number of improvements for Chromecast streaming, including something that we're hoping will allow videos to be Casted in the background. We're planning to have these improvements included in the 3.3 update which will be available in the coming weeks.

Stay tuned. :)

Infuse 3.3 has arrived, and with it brings a whole host of under-the-hood improvements to make life better than ever before. We've baked-in improved Dolby Audio, and better Google Cast streaming that allows you to continue Casting while using other apps, or while the device is locked.

We've also included a few other goodies, so be sure to check out our latest blog post (http://blog.firecore.com/13071) for all the details.

We've been hard at work to make watching videos in Infuse even better and more enjoyable. In version 3.4 we've added a handful of exciting improvements including new organization options, background audio playback, and more!

Organize videos using folders
An all-new folders option provides the ability to manually organize videos to your heart's content. You can even set custom artwork for each, allowing everything to mesh seamlessly with the native Infuse layout.

Background (audio) playback
Background playback allows for a video's audio to continue playing in the background while using other apps or while your device is locked. This is handy when leaving the app to repsond to a quick email, or for playing a continuous stream of music videos. Background playback requires Infuse Pro.

And more...
  • Landscape lock setting for iPhone
  • File size is now shown when browsing shares through Add Files screen
  • Callback URLs for streaming from other apps
  • Added Turkish translation - thanks Semih!
  • Delete videos from ticket view
  • Option to show filenames instead of fetched names
  • Improved speed of video artwork caching and loading
  • Improved speed and stability of SMB connections
  • Resolved issues with some direct URLs not working
  • Auto-empty URL field after a link is saved
  • Other minor improvements and fixes
