Oh it’s been a while but I did resolve the issue. I believe I had to use the nuclear option and delete my “home” and start from square one. It was a pain, but I haven’t had any issues sense.
Oh man, sorry to hear you had to resort to that. I really do not have that as a viable option for me as it would likely take months to get things back to how they were.

I'm assuming you are no longer seeing the location not available from your wife's phone?

I will have to try the iCloud sign out and back in to see if that helps.

Thank you for your reply - so I'm glad to hear things are working well for you again. I'd like to touch on the iCloud aspect you mentioned. You signed out and back into iCloud for your phones associated with HomeKit?
I completely logged out of iCloud and then back into iCloud. That fixed the Home problem but on one of my Macs broke Contacts and I have not fixed it yet.

Glad (sort of?) to hear it’s not just me having issues with 16.2 and/or the new architecture. Our ‘last person leaves home’ hasn’t been triggering, but ‘first person arrives home’ works fine.

At first I thought the problem was potentially my wife’s phone/account, so I tried setting up automations specific to her, and those worked. She’s got one older iPad still associated to her account, but her phone is on 16.2, and I was eventually able to add her to the home.

I’ve now started the free week trial of HomeKit Controller to see if the logging/advanced notifications can help debug. I set up notifications for when we individually leave, when anybody leaves, and when we both leave. This morning I got the notifications for us individually leaving, along with notifications for anybody leaving when we did, but no luck with the ’last person leaves.’ So something seems wrong with the trigger for last person leaves.

I don’t really want to nuke and restart the home. I tried creating new automations for ‘last person leaves,’ and neither the new or the old automations work. I’ve tried restarting the HomePod Mini again. Otherwise I guess it’s wait for 16.3…

I tried everything, including deleting my home, logging out of iCloud and redoing all the automations. My measly two lightbulbs just won’t work properly sonceios 16. They randomly turn off and on, sometimes in the middle of the night the lights go full blast and wake me up.

My solution has been to just DELETE all automations and I change the scene manually. This is absolutely pathetic by Apple.
