Didn't iOS5 have a wifi sync feature that automatically updates to a newer firmware once its availible?
Is there an option to turn this off?

absolutely, first thing i did.
Since the untethered isn't available yet, no one knows, but this is usually the case. Can I tether jailbreak now and later convert it to untethered.
What point are you trying to make? Erase all contents and settings is a last resort step and is almost never needed. Also, what does erase all content and settings do. I mean if I tether jailbreak now and later do erase all content and settings. Will that work or for that too u need apple to sign the fiware.
If I understood this sentence, I could reply.I say this because till now, u cluns t just run redsnow on tethered iPhones.
Man... I want to upgrade to iOS 5 (still on 4.2.1 on iPhone 4) but is the battery issue a big one?
I was wondering where he went! good news to know!
personally, it's a race against time for me. the 2 64GB 4S that we ordered are still on backorder (though it has only been a week), so I'm hoping they get here before 5.0.1 comes out. That will at least guarantee me that they will come with 5.0.
BL.
Confused, why cant we just use Tiny Umbrella to save our ios 5 shsh? Mine is saved on there. Do I really need to update to a tethered 5.0?

So whats the recommendation here?
Im on 4.3.something right now with a preserved baseband (iPhone 4) for my unlock (T-Mobile).
Should I quickly update to a tethered jailbreak (while preserving my baseband) to 5.0? Something specific I need to do after that? Can I then downgrade back down to 4.3 (have blobs)?
Yes, you can downgrade any time with blobs saved on any firmware version below 5.0
Its up to you, we dont really know what's going to be released and for what and when. Your guess is as good as ours.
Just asking because it seems like everyone is saying if you want a chance to jailbreak 5.0 you need to update now to preserve something, but if I downgrade, dont I lose whatever it is Im trying to preserve?
I'm on 4.3.1 and iTunes tells me the newest iPhone software is version 4.3.5. If I upgrade to 4.3.5 now, how can I know if the following iOS5 version is 5 or 5.0.1?![]()
Then you will have to download the 5.0 ipsw manually
If that is possible, what stops me from upgrading to version 5 next month instead of right now?
There is no such option in itunes. They one I think you are referring to is for syncing your data and music over wifi and has nothing to do with OTA. In any event it is never going to be an issue with a JB iphone since apple built in a check to see if the phone is JB and then denies OTA updates. That is a good thing for JBs.itunes summary page when your device is plugged in
