So I decided to create a thread to discuss when the next few betas will be released. My guess is this:

iOS6 beta 2 will be released in July - that's when beta 1 expires.
iOS6 beta 3 will be released in August.
iOS6 beta 4 will be released in September.
iOS6 beta 5 will be released in October, one month after it would have been released if Apple followed the iOS5 beta schedule.
iOS6 GM will be released in November, followed by the public release at least a couple weeks later.

So, if I am correct, then iOS6 will be released to the public sometime between November and December, perhaps on or before Black Friday.

Why would it not be released in early October like iOS 5 was. My opinion is that iOS 6 is less of an undertaking and is less buggy than iOS 5, so it could be ready sometime in September.

Of course, it will be released to the public a week (or couple days) before the new iPhone and to devs a week or two before that.

The new iPhone is slated for September or October release, I highly doubt that the new iPhone is going to be running anything but iOS 6.

Waiting until November would give Apple a lot of time to fix whatever bugs the developers catch.

So would waiting until 2013, but it's not very likely and neither is them releasing the new OS a month after they release the new phone*

*this assumes the new phone is released in October. :)

Apple releases updates way in advance of the beta expiring....at least they have done this in the past.

last year the iOS 5 betas were on a almost to the day strict every other friday release cycle, i would assume the same will be true this year.

If it's anything like iOS 5's release schedule, then each beta's release should be every 2-3 weeks.

Uhh, not at all. They were all over the place.

iOS 5 beta 1 released on June 6, 2011
- 18 days to beta 2
iOS 5 beta 2 released on June 24, 2011
- 17 days to beta 3
iOS 5 beta 3 released on July 11, 2011
- 11 days to beta 4
iOS 5 beta 4 released on July 22, 2011

Etc...

iOS5 was released October 12th. Right before 4S. They're not going to wait till after iphone 5! Black Friday?! hahahaha wow

I doubt it as well but then again, who would have thought they'd start selling their new laptops before their new OS was ready?
The old Apple play book seems to be out the window.

last year they updated their MacBooks before lion came out
a week or two before lion came out they had new macs out

Last years iPhone? The 4S? The one that was announced right after the official iOS5 release? The iphone 4? The one that came out right after os4? Those years?

It really made a lot more sense when I read it the first time around :/

I have encountered more bugs in iOS 6.0 beta 1 than iOS 5.0 beta 1.

I expect about the same time scale.

Update:
We might be looking at a release date of September 20, assuming Apple releases each beta 2 weeks before the last one, the GM 2 weeks after 7 betas and the final version 2 weeks after that.

My guess is that the iPhone 6 will be released on 5th October... you know why. So the GM few days before.

You mean iPhone 5?

Not GM. The actual realease comes out a few days before the phone. GM will be out at least a week before to make sure it's good to go. Then they'll release it to everyone, then a very short time later.... New phone!

Edit: (dates)
iOS5 was realeased to general public the 12th of October. The 4S was announced the 4th, preorders started the 7th and it hit stores the 14th. So October 5th sounds like a good guess.

your timeline is crazy, we all know the new iPhone will be out in October, same as last years iphone 4S. apple has a pattern.

i like ur answer better

....and it had a (slightly) different pattern for the iPhone 4, and the releases before that. Only Apple know when any new iPhone is going to be released, assuming we know a particular release date is incorrect, and liable to lead to disappointment.
