My iPhone 4S unplugged at 6:45 and now an hour later still at 100%. Used it on the way to work with Bluetooth in the car. Seems to last longer.

Ur confused...the iPhone 4 will not run faster and smother with ios6. It will almost certainly slow down a bit. Not much...But definitely wont be faster. And the reason ur battery seemed to die quicker is because whether u realize it or not, u most likely played around on it more then normal when u updated. It's impossible to see battery issues within 24 hrs of updating. U need at least a week of usage.

It's definitely faster on all my devices. Even the old 3GS that lagged bad with 5 is now snappy with 6.

Now 12pm from 6:30 it is at 91 % and using it for emails, text and a long 20 minute call.

Nope its definitely faster and smoother.

Also, tonight we grilled out. had the phone blue toothed to my big jambox as i always do when sitting outside and had about 10 instances (in 2 hours) of the music just magically pausing itself. To trouble shoot, i played pandora with the same issues, then played the phone, both itunes and pandora through my cars bluetooth with the same issues.

so, decreased battery life, AND major bluetooth issues

Like the OP, I updated Friday morning and by evening found my upgrade iPhone 4 running iOS 6 had used a LOT more power.

So instead of complaining I researched Google which got me to Apple Support and some items in Settings to change. My hope is configuring Settings -> Privacy -> Location Services and Settings -> Notifications will improve my iPhone's battery life.

Also find and change Traffic and Diagnostics which is in the Location Services at the very bottom.

So I upgraded both me and the wife's iPhone 4 to iOS 6 last night.
Left the house this morning at 92%.
Got to work, checked emails, Facebook, twitter, and a couple forums, 20 minutes on 3G tops.
Now my battery is at 71%!
This phone is brand new as of a week ago and the above 3G usage list is my daily routine. So I know for a fact my battery should be around the high 80s not the low 70s.
I hope this is a one time thing and not a permanent iOS 6 thing.

The phone is a lot faster/smoother with the new software but this battery drain is killing me!
Let me know if you all have the same problem.

Also upgraded iPad 2.
No such problem with iPad

iPhone 4 user here, battery life is on par with previous iOS versions. How did you update your device to iOS 6?

What I did was a shift+restore (on Windows) and then used a back up from iCloud.

i agree with this, i feel my battery life has improved as well

am wondering what ya'll are doing am not............my phone was dead before lunch yesterday and its half gone already today........and its only 930am took a bunch of calls between 5am- 930am and its at 52%.......i take a lot of calls everyday and its never drained this fast........everyday for the last year i always ended the day between 40-50% now its that after a few hours?

Are you able to charge your iPhone from a wall charger rather than your laptop? The laptop might not be charging the phone enough before you go to work. - Try this first.

If the above doesn't help, follow the link here: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1766 and for now just follow the iTunes method. Once you've done that and have a back up, follow this link: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1414

Restoring your phone may flush out some bad files that were created or carried over when your phone updated to iOS:6.

I have the percentage on when i took it off the laptop it was at 100%......my son set up my iphone for me hahahah told me every night just come home and plug it in to my laptop to get all the up dates automatically.........

ill give this a shot......some other websites people are talking about brightness settings location settings etc that need to be tweaked or changed....

like i said in another post this stuff is over my head construction/demolition and turbo/diesel engines am the man iphones am lost......my workers had to convince to get an iphone for the walkie talkie apps........they are a great thing on the job site.......i lost the bet and had to buy them a case of beer.....i had to admit i liked the walkie talkie app.......

thanks for the help maybe i should go by my sons house today he might be able to do some power saver settings or something

I noticed the battery draining fast too. I attribute most of that to me playing around with the phone a lot me to see all of the iOS 6 features. I followed the advice posted here and everywhere else to cycle the battery, and I saw a big improvement. This involves letting the battery drain to ZERO, letting it rest for am hour, then charging back to 100%. Please no more complaints until you try this first, trust me ;)

The new Maps app sucks. Turn off traffic and that should fix your battery issue. This appears to be the case for 80% of the customers on the Apple support forums. It also worked for me. I was down to 30% from 7:00am - 12:00am with no usage and in standby. I did use the maps app while traveling (but plugged in). After I was done I forced all apps closed but apparently the traffic keeps polling. It also keeps searching if you are in an area where traffic isn't available. This is why turing traffic off helps some but not everyone. My battery is now back to functioning the way it use too.

Settings - Privacy - Location Services - System Services (at the bottom) - Traffic (turn off)

It also probably doesn't hurt to turn off Location-Based iAds and Genius for Apps

Hope this helps others.
