Might have looked old and whatnot, but at least it was more useful. Trading usability/functionality for looks is usually not a good idea (of course for those who cafe about looks more, that's different, but most mature/rational people don't have their phones for looks).

So in one thread you complain about not being able to change the colors and whatnot (i.e. "looks"), and in this one you say that most mature/rational people don't have their phones for looks. So which is it?

One has to do with usability where the colors and related visual elements can affect how someone uses their phone, another one has to do with anythingf useful at all and just plain looks.

Why is that a contradiction? Ideally you want to have both, just not a trade-off in functions in favour of a new look (especially one that you may not like).

Usefulness is as individual and subjective as the customizations allowed. You like to complain about posters coming into threads and just putting down the others because they don't see things the same or have the same issues and yet that is exactly what you are doing here. What may be more useful to one may be the exact opposite to another. Who are you to judge one's maturity and rationality based upon their usage and color selections/appearance. I find the new NC to be way more useful than the old. I actually open and use it now whereas before I used it about as much as I do on my Macs, which is never. I find that the settings are customizable and informational enough that I don't have to open the calendar app, weather, and lots others as I get what I need in one swipe. For me and lots others it is more useable so your charge that it is less useable for me is laughable at best. I am more of a power user that finds rather than use things that don't work for me, I avoid them and make other choices rather than complain lots about things I can't change. With the new NC I actually use it. Since I don't care as much for the calendar on this device (never liked or used it in ios6 either for the record) I use the calendar on my mac primarily. I will admit I don't live my life on a mobile device as I rely on an actual computer for most of my job, so for some this may be their livelihood, I just don't see that since it is their productivity is anymore important or useful than others.

Thats all great for you. Does that mean that someone who similarly doesn't see issues with something should continuously posts in threads where people do feel there are issues for them to tell them they are wrong essentially, even if indirectly? It's one thing to share an opinion, which is great, but it's another to do it in a repeated continuous manner the puts down those who are discussing their issues.

Then just move on as by stating someone is irrational or immature because they like a certain appearance is nothing more than insulting the poster and others whom agree. Just because something isn't warranted or useful to you doesn't make it so and vice versa, which is the ideal of an open forum (but not yours). The sooner you get used to this, your life will be better. You state people who don't see the original point shouldn't come into a thread and belittle those that have a certain shared viewpoint just because they don't agree or experience the issue. Well this was a post about how the OP liked the new today view. Yours was the exact opposite of the posts intention so according to your recommendations and philosophies you shouldn't be here posting. Just because you don't like the new NC today screen or find it as useful doesn't mean it is not so to others. Calling them names and stating that by liking it they are not productive did nothing to further the discussion either. Maybe you can at some point see that your rants are no more pertinent than any others just because you have an agenda in mind.

I am with the OP and prefer this NC to the 6 version. I just wish we had the capability to add the graphical 10 day forecast to the displayed weather as well with another switch in the NC settings and possibly customize the appearance of the calendar time frames presented, but these are just wishes and doesn't make it any less useful for me.

I too liked the forecast in iOS 6, but it no longer fits because it's now the today view. Same for Facebook/Twitter, not a notification or helpful staying organized. So far I'm finding the screen useful and hope the open it up to 3rd party apps to really expand its usefulness even more.
