Not sure which is the appropriate forum for this (here in JB, or in the iOS8 forum), but as part of the developer program, I'm considering installing iOS8 beta, but I'm just wondering how much alike/unlike the new iOS8 notification system is compared to BiteSMS (or similar messaging tweak), which I'm currently running. I believe you can RESPOND to notifications now in the iOS8 notification center (without leaving the app you are in), but can you compose a new message via the same way, as you can with BiteSMS? How about on the lockscreen without unlocking? From what I can tell from reading about it, I don't think they work the same.

Anyone who uses BiteSMS (or any other QuickCompose/QuickReply JB tweak) that has upgraded to iOS8 have any thoughts on this? How similar or glaringly different are they now?

I upgraded to ios 8 beta on my 5S and quick reply seemed to work pretty well for a beta.

Essentially you see the same notification show up on the top of the screen and when you scroll down it prompts the keyboard to show up and allows you respond from the notification bar/page you are currently on.

Just JB my phone yesterday and installed BiteSMS which i have not used since Ios 6 and it is superior IMO with bitesms you have the alert box pupup in the middle of the screen like older ios versions, but you can customize the buttons and drag down the recent conversation all through the tiny window.

    see pics.

Thanks, mjz. So, in iOS8, it's really just that. QuickREPLY. You can reply if someone sends you something first, but you can't compose a new message without leaving the app you are in, and opening the message app? So no QuickCOMPOSE, correct?

Also, I assume QuickReply works on the lockscreen without unlocking the phone?

bitesms is leaps and bounds over Apples very basic quick reply solution, it will probably take Apple until iOS 15 to add all the features bitesms has :D

I used ios 8 beta for about 2 days, the first day it was released and honestly dont remember if you could reply from the lockscreen, a quick google search should be able to confirm this.
with bitesms you CAN respond from lockscreen.

and you are Correct, no quick compose feature with ios 8. With bitesms you should use activator which allows you to pretty much assign any gesture/swype/holding on statursbar/physical buttons to either compose a message from anywhere (lockscreen, homescreen, in app)

I find couria to be even better than bite. It just feels more intuitive and if you didn't know better, you could believe it was built into iOS.
