Just curious.. HS allows you to use an iPad during class to take notes? I thought most HS don't allow electronics at all during class time...

I use mine for taking notes in class. Some teachers are cool with it, others are not. It just depends on who it is. Sometimes I'll go to Panera Bread or the library and type papers on it. It's easier to transport than my MBP.

I'd definitely go with 3G, OP. I'm not sure what size you should get, though.

It is still all up in the air due to the availability issues in my state... Boo, Bestbuy said 3-4 week availability for their store!

I want a 3G, but I dislike the monthly costs because I personally would not use the 3G that often.

At the best buy I work at we're selling 64gb wifi for $550 and 3G for $679. I would recomend checking out your local bb for an iPad 1 if you want to save some cash.

Also, you don't have to pay every month for the 3G, only when you want to use it. So if you go on vacation or something you can turn it on for $15 or $25

Follow-Up Post

Since I made this post, I have made up my decision (last week Friday actually).

I called everywhere around to check stock so I could buy the black 32GB iPad 2. No luck at all, not even an ETA of when they would come in! (Still to this day, my local BestBuy has a reserve list of 537+ for the new ones)

After that failure, I ended up calling my local AT&T and Verizon stores to see if they had any in stock of the Wi-Fi or the 3G models. AT&T had all 3G models for prices between $430 and $630. Wanted the 16GB model but I asked their return policy on them (in case of dead pixels or etc.) and they had none. I called Verizon next and they had 2 left, the 16GB model, and the 64GB model $300 and $500 respectively. I asked if they had a return policy and it was 14 days, sweet! They said they would reserve THEM for me so I could make my decision when I got there. I got there and I bought the 16GB Wi-Fi model for just about $300 with tax! (It was marked down to less than $300 in the system) Less expensive than my iPod Touch!

I went to Target afterwords to buy a Zagg InvisibleShield and a ZaggMate for my iPad but when I got there, they had the OtterBox Defender case for only $60 on clearance. I bought that along with the Camera connection kit.

Overall I bought the iPad with a GREAT case and screen protector, and the Camera Connection Kit all for less than $400 total. I added it up, with an iPad 2 it would have cost me at LEAST $730.

April 1st will be the end of my First week with the iPad. Overall I am very impressed! I do not really need the faster processor because I am not really a gamer haha. I have been using my iPad everyday for my Yearbook, TV Production, Newspaper, and English classes, and a little Facebook in my freetime haha.

One question though...
Any App Suggestions?

You don't need an iPad for high school. It's a distraction, nothing more.

I didn't just get it for schoolwork, I wanted something that I could use at home to surf the web and watch movies.

Schoolwork was just another perk of the iPad :)

Smart young man. Clearly decided what he wanted, researched, asked questions and then spent his own money on said decision. Bravo! Many people on this forum never make their own decisions. I have faith you will enjoy your new iPad. Only you will decide if it was worth it or not. I believe either way, your decision has value. Kudos.
