To you iPad 1 owners - Did you use your iPad naked or with no back protection? How well did the aluminum hold up? Any scratches?

I wanna use iPad 2 without back protection and just a smart cover.

Use mine naked around the house since October. I have a TPU case for the odd time i take it outside. No scratches or dents so far but I'm careful with it.

I had a Macally Metrolpad case. It was basically a hard plastic backing. I loved it b/c it was durable w/o significantly adding thickness. Unfortunately, the iPad back is very scratch, dent prone if you don't watch out -- esp if you toss it in a bag w/ other stuff. Some don't care, some do. If you do then you'll want some sort of protection. Good thing is that most iPad 1.0 cases are very inexpensive now.

I had a encase leather portfolio case/ stand. Looking for the same type for the 2. Makes it easier to throw the device around and it handles drops very well.
