I'm very much content with my iPad, so I will not be selling mine to upgrade to the iPad 2. Plus, the features on the 2nd gen aren't enough to woo me to drop $500 (less the difference of selling my iPad).

It's not like when the first one came out. I ordered the first day that you could.

With this one, I think I'm going to need to have a play with one, if i notice a considerable difference then probably get one. But Apple haven't done enough to make we want one from day 1.

But then again, when they send me an email, with a cool looking iPad and words to the effect of 'pre order one now' I can't be held responsible for my actions.

I'm going to hold on to my iPad 1 for now. I don't really need the upgrades presented on the new one. The only thing I actually see using a lot would be facetime which I already have the iphone to use.

For mainly browsing, emails and using the ipad for my photos, I think it will do until they have a better display.

Will maybe buy an ipad3 if it has a better display... but what I'm really after is a decent spec 7" tablet... Playbook is looking interesting atm (but I'm not selling the ipad... will simply keep it around a smaller part of the house.)

99% of what I use an ipad for is web browsing. The apps I do use are either web surrogates or apps to solve transfer issues. I would love a 7" format tablet because its far more single hand portable... weight is one thing, but a 10" tablet is just too large for freeform use outside.

Not only are apps are overrated... but every tablet right now is overrated for browser usage. Having a usable scrollbar versus innertial drag for long webpages, plus multiple windows of browser instances, not just a bucket of tabs suits my usage better... oh.. and nothing beats a physical keyboard if you're not just looking at a webpage.

Better graphics will mean better games, yeah... but there is a reason I don't even use powerful laptops for genuine gaming (I.E. how does it run Crysis II?) That doesn't even count issues with the control scheme in general; I'm getting tired of gravity/physics, puzzle and tower defense games in general. I want me some FPS and MMO's, and they suck without a keyboard/mouse combo.

The PC mode of usage isn't dead yet.. I feel like the tablet market is going to reach an equilibrium both with pcs and in its own market, much like the smartphone market.

Yes - forever

1. I sold my iPad 1 (3g 64) about 5 weeks ago in anticipation of this release.(before the price drop - oh yeah!!)

2. I find that I miss the iPad the most for reading (couch and bed time specifically) it just beats out the laptop (even the 11in macbook air)

3. I plan on buying or sampling every Apple product I can 4 EVER.

4. I am most excited that it is thinner and lighter. I think it is going to be a huge difference. Maybe right away - the first time I pick it up... and definitely after holding it for extended periods of time. If you are holding something for 30 minutes or more a small weight reduction will make a huge difference.

Interesting that we have 3 defectors voting, but not commenting.

The more I think about it, and the more I watch my son walk around the house with our iPad 1 in its thick rubber case, the more I like the idea of keeping it for my 3 kids and buying a sleek, covered (as opposed to encased) iPad 2 for myself. I'm back to agonizing over whether 3G is worth $140, and leaning against it now.

I'm leaning toward upgrading, but I mainly found it weird that this poll isn't already up.

Now that we know the details of the iPad 2, do you plan to upgrade/buy the iPad 2?

There was a scoop recently from a supposed apple insider that said the iPad 2 would be minor update and that the later to be released iPad 3 would be a game changer. After finally seeing the specs and iPad 2 itself, it does bring some nice upgrades, but for me, not enough to ditch my iPad. I'm just an average consumer who likes a good gadget, but seems Apple got this out now with plans for a iPad 3 release for the 2011 Xmas season. Even if not the case and iPad 3 doesn't roll out until 2012, it'd probably be around this time in 12.

If you look at the iPhone, it was the "4" that was the game changer; iPhone, iPhone 3 family and iPhone 4. Usually around the 3rd generation build that wraps all the goodies into one rollout.

So to answer your question; I'm not upgrading to iPad 2, waiting for the "3".

Keeping the first gen for now. I don't think I'll upgrade, definitely not right away. But, it's not out of the question for a couple months from now. We'll see. Has some great features, but just really wanted retina. Reading books isn't always the best.

Hadn't intended to sell my original iPad but I figured what the heck, test the Ebay waters and BANG it sold at my "Buy it now!" asking price in 5 min.

Thank heavens for my Air or I'd be going through major withdrawal.

Can't wait till Friday!
