I upgraded, and I can honestly say it's not worth it. I'd take my iPad 1 with it's perfect display back over the multiple iPad 2's I've had with faulty displays. There's really not much of a noticable difference between the two.

I don't know what you are exactly doing with your iPads, but for me the difference is very big. No lags, no slowdowns, switching between apps is really fast, Safari much faster than before and Games look and play better. I am more than happy.
How many apps do you have installed on your iPad? That might help to better understand how you are using it. I got 90 apps installed and I use more than 15 every day.

I upgraded for the extra 256mb RAM, Gyro and thinner form factor.

My only gripe is the RAM. These iPad 2's should of had at least a gig.

So I find myself in the same predicament as with the iPad 1. Needing more RAM. I use complex resource intensive apps and because of this was my main reason for upgrading.

Plus I invested so much money in APPs, I'm stuck with the iPad till it gets it $&@! Together.

1GB RAM would certainly be nice, but now as it is, the iPad 2 has no memory problems. Of course I would too like to see more RAM, but I guess there must be something to look for in iPad 3...

I, personally, don't see the need to upgrade if your happy with the original iPad like I am. I see no need dishing out more money on a new iPad 2. I don't need a camera, the original is light enough, I don't think thinner is better, and mine is plenty fast enough for what I do.:)

x2

My main reason for upgrading was more ram and eliminating the annoying reloads in safari, but it still doesn't have enough ram. Half the time it still reloads old tabs when you go to them.

For those that own BOTH:

What do you think is a better deal...

iPad 1 refurb - $349

- or -

iPad 2 new - $499

Thanks for sharing your thoughts!

:)

I had both and I chose the new one because of the extra ram. The faster processor is noticeable with some apps and not with others. The extra ram really makes a difference for me because I like to keep several web pages opened at once and got tired of the refreshes. As a matter of fact, I went from a 64gb ipad 1 to a 16gb ipad 2 so that I could have more ram.
