In my case I went for a 64 gb iPad 2 when they announced the 3 and I bought one from the remaining iPad 2 stock. It cost me about KRW 80,000 (£40) more than a 16 gb iPad 3. The local store had an extra 10 % discount on top of Apples price cuts. Just felt like i was in the right place at the right time.

For me as a iPad wifi user the new iPad was really just about the screen. I preferred having the extra space. I'm happy with my choice now I've had a chance to see the latest model. I upgraded from an iPad 1.

To each their own. The choice is yours!

Look on best buy's web site for your local store's open box items. I got a 64 gb new iPad for $600 because it has been returned, and it was in perfect shape. They had a few open box 16gb new iPads at my local store for $419. If you're looking to save some money, definitely check that out.

meh, not bad but Gen2 screen wasn't bad either. Besides, I am not a gamer, don't really read books on the iPad nor is the device my prime web browsing machine so when I compare it with my Gen2, I don't really care about Retina all that much...

I'd be interested to know what it is you do on your iPad? It would seem you think the iPad 2 is a better choice if you never actually look at it.

My opinion is that you really have to look at yourself and your usage of the device. I quite happily recommended an iPad 2 to a lady in he 50s the other day, because quite frankly I didn't think she'd actually be able to appreciate the difference and it's still a great device. I'd go look at the two side by side in Apple and make a choice. :)

I was in best buy today messing around with the iPads. I didnt even really notice that supposedly huge different in the screen quality. I didnt really mess around with the pictures, but it was definitely a high quality on the new one. Picture quality is irrelevant to me. After messing around for a while, I don't see much reason to get to get the iPad 3. I think I'll go with the 32gb iPad 2, save 100 and get the apogee jam.
