Did you buy your ipad from Best Buy? Because that looks like a Best Buy employee. Was your iPad sealed when you got it, or did you buy an "open box item"?

Kind of looks like it may have been used as a floor demo.

new replacement direct from apple.
 
replacement > refurb model > second hand > someone alr used it and returned it
however, Apple is SUPPOSED to switch the casing of the iPad and restore it with a fresh copy of iOS.
So... no idea how did that happen... 😕

They assured me it is new. The serial number is not a refurb.

At least it wasn't some Chinese guy's wang....could have been much worst. 😛

In the second photo you can read the text RMAD and await clean and packing.

RMAD could be Return to Manufacturing Department. Looks like this might be a refurbishing department. Especially since they need to clean the device and repack it.
 
These photos are not from the factory it looks like there from some sort of Apple testing/refurbishment facility.
