This is why I dont have the battery % disabled on any product. It makes you way too paranoid and think something is wrong.

I would think that having it ENabled would make you paranoid. And just 'cause you're paranoid doesn't mean they're not out to get you.

I drained my battery completely overnight. I plugged it in 3 hours ago and its only at 31%. Thats pretty slow if you ask me. Im using the charger that came with the ipad plugged into the wall. a

Have you seen the size of that battery? Rome wasn't built in a day ya know.

Never recharge your battery. When it goes to 0% and stops working throw it away and buy a new one.

It really does charge slow, e iPad 1 charges in about 2-3 hours, the iPad 2 or at least mine takes about 5-6 so yeah, something is going on. Also, I have had my iPad crash a few time, the iPad 1 would crash now and then, but never more than twice in one week... I'm still keeping it though, why? Cause that's what it do.

I charge it using my mbp charger and it's damn fast.

Really?! The MBP charger uses a completely different connector, and supplies 16.5 volts instead of the 5 volts that the iPad needs.

When you are done blowing up your iPad, can I have what's left?!

I've been charging mine when it gets to 20-25%. I haven't really checked how long it's taking exactly, but definitely less than 4 hours as I happened to check one time at around 4 hours after plugging it in and it had went from 27% to 100% within that time using the wall charger.

I fail. I edited my post now it sounds wrong.

I have the % disabled. I look at it way too much and that sucks.

Its not a deal breaker for me as I use it all day and am down to 40 percent or so when I plug it in at night. In the am its 100%. Still I think 4-5 hours to charge anything is to long. Maybe Apple needs a 20-30 watt charger.

Smart Cover is the issue.

Detach it and iPad will charge much faster.

It's something that I discovered on the first day. Smart Cover causes the following:
1. Overheating along the left side when iPad is in use
2. Slower battery charging
3. Faster battery drainage

Glad I didn't buy one of those. Screw that!

Huh? What's the different in charging speeds?

The iPad1 also takes forever to charge... It's not a big deal. Big battery=more time charging.

Mine also seems to be charging slow. I'm using the supplied wall charger. I don't have an iPad 1 to compare it to, but it definitely surprised me at how long it was taking to charge. Also, maybe I'm using it a lot since I just got it yesterday, but the battery wasn't lasting anywhere near 10 hours. More like 6-7 hours. And I do not have a smart cover.

Try charging it much the first couple of weeks and see if it increases. I do this with all my devices, and it seems to build the batteries endurance.

The first time you get an iPad, don't charge it, let it fall below 10% and then charge it.

This guarantees a better battery (and has been proven)

After that, charge via wall for 10 full hours, then use it. It should last like 2 days before you will have to charge it again with heavy use on 50% brightness.

Never let an iPad battery go below 20% before charing it.

Do this with all iDevices to maximize battery life.
Okay Mr. Scientist.

I tried the charger it came with and it went from 87-89 percent in 10 mins. So it will take 500 mins to charge from 0?

The battery meter may not be as accurate/calibrated as you think it should be but do as other say and plug it in the wall for fastest charging. Your device will charge on USB but not as fast as using the ac adapter.

The iPad2 comes standard w/ slow charging. To get fast charging you must download the "Apple Fast Charge" app for .99. Once you do that your iPad can charge from 0 to 100% in 4 hrs. or less.

OK, just being a little tongue and cheek. Seriously, first thing I did when I opened my iPad2 was to let the battery drain to the point of shutting itself down in order to calibrate the battery. It took over 8 hours with the 10w wall adapter which, honestly, freaked me out. But I was using an old iPod cable, figured that might be the issue. When the iPad got down to 20% I recharged w/ included cable and it charged up in a couple hours.

I read that first sentence and was like "are you SERIOUSLY advertising something that stupid here?" I was gonna click that report button so fast :p.

I am using the supplied charger to charge my iPad 2. I plugged it in today at 1:00 pm at 25% and right now at 6:30 pm the battery is at 74%. I have been charging it that entire time. Now tell me that is normal? My iPhone 4 charges to 100% in a few hours. Anyways, I have mine charging with my smart cover if that makes a difference? What's wrong here?
