iPad 2 coming in multi colours...

Well, if the thing is made of carbon fibre, then it'll have to be painted. If it has to be painted, different colours probably aren't out of the question...
I guess multi-colors would be in lieu of real technological improvements?
I don't have a tablet but will assess the iPad 2 and compare it to the competition. While it was rushed to market the Xoom is a nice piece of hardware to which the software will eventually catch up, but I only want the wifi version of anything I buy.

SO funny - I just came here to post this first too! Can't say for sure - but the banner at the event seems to make it prominent that colour will be a focus.
Apple proved that they had enough trouble trying to get two iPhone 4 colors out. As far as I'm aware they've given up with the white one. So I'd be spectacle about them attempting a range of iPad colors.
But who knows, maybe the crazy fools will pull it off?

I know people here would hate it, but I still like the old Nokia Phones where you could unclip the front and back covers and fit on new covers in the colours you like.
Also making your device look brand new when you replaced a scratched old cover with a grand new one.
The market for coloured and custom designed backs for the iPad would be MASSIVE.

They should just make the Apple logo illuminate like it does on MBP's...that'd be enough "color" for me...the whole rainbow of flavors fad has long passed

Without trying to sound rude, you've just described a case.
I get what you mean about changing the actual physical casing, but then it would loose the well built, perfectly engineered feel. Don't you think?
Because it's speculation- What the site is for. Also because Apple loves to hide "hints" in the teaser ads and marketing materials.

Anodizing aluminum is much different than painting plastic. Very doable, however offering standard nano colors would look extremely tacky on an iPad, imo. Then again, tons of people loved fruit-colored iMacs, so what do I know?
Just because you don't have a clue what's happening doesn't make my knowledge any less probable.
Listen, I was told this by a friend and a member of Apple staff. So if it doesn't happen there'll be something wrong simply because a friend won't tell me something that isn't true.

Either your friend didn't have a clue or he lied to you. Only 2 colors, black & white, and it is the bezel that has the color not the back.
I wouldn't rely on your friend for any more Apple information.
