Even to other countries, no LEGIT buyers will pay $3K, simply because there are a LOT of legit power sellers selling exact same model, shipping to international, for around $900 - $1200.

Oops my mistake. I sure wouldn't be spending that much money on an item from a 3-feedback seller. That's a pretty scary road to go down.
I used to use ebay alot. Feedback 500+ all pos.
Only people who know a alot about ebay should get into high $ crazy high demand items like iPad2 imo. and when you have BOTH inexperienced sellers and inexperienced buyers together in this scenario, risks are higher.
As far as these big profit sales, many probably went thru, but just as many are probably non-serious buyers who like to click and fantasize. It's tempting for many.
I've contemplated putting my iPad unlimited SIMcard on ebay but am retiscent due to lots! of reason, AT&T being one, but they were getting consistently big money last week.
