Damn...

I don't think I can get her to wake up that early and wait for more than an hour without the opportunitie to do anything...

But thanks for the help.

What do you think about the possibility to get an iPad of the first generation at pentagon city?

I got mine there yesterday. I was in lint at 7am. There were 15 people in front me. There was really no actual line since there are benches and everyone was just sitting, reading and waiting. The apple guy came out at 7:45 and gave out tickets. They had many, esp. WiFi models. Basically, even the people that came at 8am got a ticket. After you get your ticket you can just roam around the mall and you must return by 10am or they will give away your ipad. So if you can convince her to get there by 8am on a weekday, you should be fine. She will not have to wait more than an hour since they start selling the ipads at 9am.

FYI. Just don't let her go to the Georgetown Apple store. Lines there are crazy!!! Too many tourists and students, and you have to wait outside...in line. Pentagon City is the bet place to go for an ipad if you are in DC and it's on the metro so it takes about the same time to get there, since there is not metro in Georgetown anyways.

Thanks to you all.

Then I'll just send her to the PC Mall as soon as possible.
Maybe she (and that means me, too) will be lucky to grab one.

If she doesn't get on, she will be able to do some more shopping for herself...

:)

greetings from Germany

eh, that's not true.

target is the best option. DC area targets have had all models on and off throughout the last few weeks. Very easy to find a target with one.

which target stores? the nova stores don't seem to have them according to the inventory tracker ...

I went to targets along Rt. 1 in Alexandria and they didn't have any. PC was loaded with them.

Springfield, Columbia Heights and Prince George's Mall seem to be getting a shipment daily. Just a day ago all three had multiple black 32GB Wifi each.

They seem to get one model shipment at a time to all regional stores. Columbia Heights has gotten more than the others.

I've found the best results checking around 10-11am with the iPad locator website.

Seriously, more often than not these stores have had them.

The Walmart in Alexandria has a few right now too.

I went to PC this morning - got there about 8 and was the second-to-last person in line. They started handing out tickets about 5 minutes later and by the time it got to me all they had left was one 16GB Verizon Black and lots of black/white 64GB Verizon. They had no 16gb AT&Ts and the wi-fi only were snatched up really quickly. Thankfully, I got exactly what I wanted.

There were a lot of people looking to take them overseas, hence the popularity of the AT&T models. The guy said it's been hit or miss what they get - this week they haven't gotten any 16GB AT&T. Otherwise just about everyone wanted wi-fi only. There were a couple of kids there too who stood in line and were trying to sell their tickets.

If you're going to go to PC, I'd get there around 7a.

Does anyone have new information about iPad 2 sell in Washington DC?

My friend will stay there this week about 15 minutes (walk) far away from Gergetown apple store. Is it possible to buy iPad 2 in that store?

What about radioshack stores?

Do you have any other suggestion?

thank u in advance!

Hah, you should have sent him there this morning. It's warm and not raining. Actually nevermind, the store wouldn't have gotten a shipment on Sunday so Tuesday is your first good bet for the week.

The Georgetown store will work but you'll still have to show up relatively early and wait in line. Target and Radioshack are really crapshoots, but you can check live target inventory on the iPad locator site (http://www.ipad2locator.com/).
