I ended up leaving the regent street queue as my wife phoned me to say she had bought me one from argos!

I gave my ticket back. Could not be bothered trying to sell place in queue just figured at least the right person would get it.

I went into the store to buy the case. I was a little surprised that they did not just close the store for everyone who was not in the queue. It was heaving with people playing with them and just general browsing. I guess they could have speeded up the queue if every one was just serving them. Oh well no biggie.

As I said earlier I got there at 5:45. I got to the place where they handed out the tickets about 30 mins after. They had bags of tickets to hand out. They had tons and tons of stock. They guy said that they would keep the store open until they had emptied the stock or queue however long it took! Whether this was true or not not sure.

On a slightly sour note there was a constant stream of people trying to sell iPads to people in the queue. Got offered a 64 wifi for 900 quid.

Ps I used google maps to work out how far I was from the store. After 30 mins I was 0.2 miles way!:D

One other thing. I think apple changed tactic after the us launch. There they sold local stock for an hour or so one line. In the uk all local stock went to stores. On line orders look like they are coming direct from china. I guess they did this to maximise stock for the stores.

What was the latest anyone turned up at regent street and got served? I would guess anything upto 7ish.

got myself two ipad 2s!!!! 64gd 3g!!! and i didn't even have to wait in the queue! was walking around stratford (east london) after lunch and went into every electronic store in the area, and of all places phones 4 u had four in stock, they said to me at about 2pm that they had no information if they were allowed to sell them at 5pm from head office and told me it was most likely tomorrow that they would go on sale. so i ended up going to curry/pc world in mile end; huge store and they only had 9 in stock and no 64gb models. went back to phones 4 U got there at 5pm, and while i was away they got an e-mail from head office allowing them to sell them off contract! so got myself 2! they had no idea about the ipad and called to see if they were sim locked. and also managed to get a date with the cute sales assistant! no t a bad day overall! except i'm stuck at my parents restaurant, so haven't even opened them yet

Dammit!!

I made a pretty bad call in that case, should have gone down after work and i'd have an ipad in hand by now.

Oh well, live and learn. Next time i'm going to regent street asap.

I got there at 7.10, and I would say at least another 150-200 people got in behind me. They probably could have taken more but the payments system crashed resulting in a lot of manual authorisations having to be taken, and they stopped letting people in. They still had plenty of stock by the time I left the store at about 9pm.

I knew I should have headed into London, as my local stores sold out. I'll try heading over there tomorrow morning. I'm not messing about with small stores anymore.

anyone know if any stock was left at Regent st yesterday?

I wanna head down there today, are they opening any earlier today?

Just back from regent st apple store. Got there at 7.30 and was about 40th in the queue. Got a black 32gb 3G! 2 hours in total wait

When queuing the apple guy say they had no White 3G and only very very limited black 3G. By the time I got in they only had black 32gb 3Gs left and only about 40 so of them.

But then they pulled out a trolly load of White 64gb 3Gs!

Again only limited stock and going by they queue behind me (good hundred or so I could see) I think that lot will be snapped up sharpish.

They did have all varieties of wifi only.. No one would give stock numbers out

Hi Guys - just leaving London after visiting covent garden and regent street (empty handed).

Sadly both stores are out of 3G but seemed strong on wifi models. Was there at 9 dead on and within 4 minutes 3G was gone :(

If your in the Market for a wifi model my advice is goto covent garden. Empty and no queue. Regent street was around the corner a good 200 people!

Currently stood in the queue at Regent Street store. Black and White wifi *currently* in stock, no 3G. Very busy but well organised, I've never seen so many security guys in a shop. I was expecting to get to the front of the queue and be told I'm not dressed right!

I felt the same, a lot if security hanging around, but not as many customers as I was expecting. From joining the queue at 11:30, I was out by 12:20 with White iPad and orange smart cover in hand. Very impressed with how it was managed.

Just back from Regent St also - had to queue for about an hour but they had all wifi models and cases etc.

I'm coming London tomorrow and I'm wondering if it is possible to get an iPad 3G at Regent St or Covent Garden store?
Do you have to queue in the morning before the store is opening? Or don't they currently have any 3G iPads?
