If the iPad 2 is going to be sold for more than retail on Amazon, than I will not purchase it from Amazon. It only makes sense if I can get it for retail or less. How this plays out will only be determined when Amazon actually begins selling on their site.

I'm an Amazon Prime Member, so I'm not going to nit-pick the whole "sold by" or "fulfilled by" debate. As an Amazon Prime Member, if an item is sold on Amazon Prime, then it comes with the full assurance, warranty and backing of Amazon itself. So if it's sold by Acme or sold by Amazon just doesn't matter to me so long as it's sold on Amazon Prime.

It's a hard choice to wait, but with the potential savings it's worth it. If when the time comes the price is set higher than it should be, then I'll explore my options at that time.

I don't really see the Kindle as being the reason. I owned a Kindle DX and let me tell you, it is nothing like an iPad--or any tablet for that matter. It is an e-ink e-reader, simple as that. They are really in two different markets.

Yep. I have a K3 and just got an iPad 2. K3 will remain my novel reader as I vastly prefer e-ink for reading straight text and LCDs like the iPad strain my eyes after 30 minutes or so.

So I see them as pretty separate devices that just happen to both be able to display e-books.
