Some people are saying about retina display. Cut the crap, people. It won't happen. The resolution like that doesn't make sense on 10 inch display. Apple will look for alternative screen technology first on iPad like Super-Amoled. Retina Display? Haha.... right.

I'm guessing April 2011, and the only new feature will be a FaceTime camera.
Gyroscope? The iPad does seem to be getting some traction as a gaming device and there's already a gyro in the iPhone so I'd find the ommission of a gyro in the next iPad just as surprising as the ommission of a FaceTime camera.

I believe that there'll also be more subtle changes. I think that they will definitely update the A4 chip, at the very least to use the A4 version currently shipping in the iPhone (i.e. the one with 512MB of memory integrated into the packaging(*)) but I really hope they do a bit more than that and update the CPU to be based on a more modern ARM core (Cortex-A9).

(*) That's assuming that the thermals on the iPhone A4 part are OK for it to be clocked to 1GHz. The widespread assumption seems to be that the iPhone part is clocked at about 800MHz but I'd assume that's a battery life thing rather than the thermals not being good to 1GHz..

How many people are really buying into Apples marketing terms as if though they are some kind of magical technology and not them cranking the contrast resolution up? iPod has a "Retina Display" and is obviously lesser quality. Apple will push this "Retina Display" gimmick all the down to the last device they create with a screen within 2 years and iPad is next.

Also I'm going with first week of May.
