Good thing the iPad don't weigh that muchI wouldn't suggest doing this all the time, but yeah...it seems to!

Why do you say that? I use my iPad 1 on the table all the time, using Apple's black case. It's very stable, even when you raise the flap to the "wedge" position.
I wonder if a company is going to make a case like this but one that goes all the way around the iPad?

I really like my cover a lot. Its so nifty and functional. Its a little overpriced (particularly the leather one), but I love it.
They sure are. Speck Pixelskin HD: Coming in April!

Nice.. but Speck makes the most overpriced products in the market..
That's one question I've had about Smart Covers. So you can fold it flat around the back of the iPad? I do this with my current iPad cover all the time, but I've yet to see a product photo with the cover wrapped flat around the back.
It makes me nervous. I remember when magnets were the mortal enemy of data storage.
Well, at least there is something there to justify the cost. Makes the 29$ they are charging for the bumper look even more silly.
Or just turn the device upside down. Sure, the home button isn't in the best place then but everything else in the UI will reorient.
Money does not grow on trees where I live.
Gotta admire all the work they have put into this. Still that many magnets is crazy. now we know why they cost so much!
This has potential to be a big problem for those of us with children. My 2-year-old LOVES the iPad, but I'd never let her near the smart cover. Those magnets get out (through chewing or just misuse) it's potentially deadly for a small child who swallows them. Guarantee you this winds up being an issue at some point.

Do you think an iPad with a sheet of fragile and very dangerous thin glass on the front would ever pass any safety test for approval as a product for a young child?
