iPad 2 upgraders - what did it cost you?

Those of us who sold our iPad 2s for the latest version are all taking a monetary hit of some kind. Just curious how much of a hit that was. For me, the bottom line was $187 to upgrade from a 32GB AT&T 3G to a 32GB Wifi only.

iPad2 Sale Price: $530 (including leather Smart Cover)
eBay/Paypal/Shipping Fees: $63.17
Net for iPad2: $466.83

iPad 3 32GB Wifi w/ Polyurethane Smart Cover: $654.15

Upgrade price: $187.32


I do think I sold my iPad2 for a little less than I could have gotten, but the launch was fast approaching and I was worried about prices falling off a cliff.

Of course I did take a downgrade from 3G to Wifi and a leather Smart Cover to a Poly one. But in the year that I owned it I used 3G maybe three or four times, and I now have an iPhone for tethering, so I really doubt I'll miss it.

For me, $187 for a massive display upgrade, (likely) more RAM, better processor etc, (and only losing AT&T service that I never used anyway) is a great deal.

So - anyone else want to share their upgrade $$ figure?

$50 to upgrade to an iPad 3 from the iPad 2, same specs. Considering I used my iPad 2 for 11.5 months, I "rented" the iPad 2 for about $4.25 per month.

Sold for iPad 2 plus case for $420

Purchased New iPad for 533
New case= $50

It cost me $158 to upgrade.
$13.58 per month to "rent" my iPad.

Sold my 16gig wifi+ grey poly and incase lounge case(loved it) for $450 on Craigslist over a month ago for $450.

Purchased "The New iPad" 16gig black plus DARK grey smart cover.

$132 upgrade with tax and everything.

Part of me thinks I could have got the $450 without throwing in the smart cover. Dude I sold it to never even looked at it. But I really wanted that dark grey after it came out.

Also orderd a 9000 mAh battery ($59) for my powebag. If you carry your iPad in a backpack you should check them out. They have a built in charging system for smartphones and stuff. Has connectors for iOS, mini USB, micro USB, and an extra USB port for anything else. It comes with a 3000mAh battery that will charge up an iPhone twice, iPad 50%. You can swap out the battery cartridges so I ordered a 9000mAh so when I'm out of the house with my iPad I'll have 12000mAh of extra juice. Also the powebag has a special iPad pouch. It's great for motorcycle trips :)

Sold my 2 32gb ATT for 635,
Bought a 3 16g wifi for $529 total, so gained $106 outlay.
BUT I also ordered a 3 32g 4G, to decide which 3 I want to keep.
so who knows.

Damn, you guys got good deals.
I sold my 32gb wifi for $450 at the end of February and just bought the 32gb wifi for $650 after tax so I spent $200. I made money off of selling my iPhone 4 for 4S so I'm not THAT happy with spending $200 to upgrade. Still got to keep my Smart Cover and sleeve so accessories are taken care of at least

iPad 2 32gb ATT 3g sold for $500 to a relative.
iPad 3 64gb VZW for $829.

So I lost $329 would of been less if I didnt want to upgrade to 64gb

Spent $761 on a 64GB WiFi

Cleared $450 after selling my 64GB WiFi iPad 2 WITH a cracked screen

So $311. Not terrible consider the screen was cracked.

Bought the new iPad:$599+tax

iPads cost me $1700+tax in 2 years. :eek:

upgrade price - 20$ lol

bought a 32gb ATT LTE to sell for profit (or return if i cannot sell within 14 days, which i doubt)

And purchased an apple tv because i really want 1080p

I had the iPad since day one and just ordered the new one a 16gb wifi.
So it cost me about $175 plus tax to own it for 2 years.
Plus I wrote it off as a business expense.
I'm still in shock of the resale value of these things.

Gotta love it! I did the same thing except 32gb wifi to 16gb wifi and it cost me 20$'s to upgrade
