With how Apple seem to be fragmenting their devices now, I wouldn't get anything but the latest model of anything they sell.

the fact the new ipad is heavier than the ipad 2 shouldn't be an issue for you since you don't currently own any ipad, so I would say get the new iPad, the screen alone is a good enough reason to spend a little bit extra :).

Why not hold off and wait for the newer iPad next year? The iPad 3 is already more than halfway through the refresh cycle...

I know a man with a dog ;-) all legal so dw. There is mIxed reviews with the camera adaptor :-S

It was refreshed 176 days ago. The average refresh cycle in days is 352...

352 take away 176 days is 172 :)

So it's at half it's refresh cycle now. :)

Today is August 30, 2012 so that means that 176 days from today would be February 22, 2013.

I am nearly 70, wear glasses and have no problems reading on my iPad2. The screen is just fine for me. I went to an Apple store to look at the ipad3 and did not think the retina display was worth upgrading for.

I have the 64 gig version because this gives me enough storage so that when we go on trips I can have movies for flights, books and lots of room to backup photos from my DSLR every night.

For accessories I have the camera connector, which works very well, and also the one that allows me to connect the iPad to an HD TV via HDMI (digital av adapter). This is great to use in hotels for watching movies or photos from the iPad. I like to use the AVPlayer HD app for movies since it plays all formats, even mkv, which saves having to convert to an iTunes compatible format.

So I would say that the ipad2,is good enough and spend the money you save on 64 gig, and the camera and tv connectors.

I have both, 2 and 3. I will recommend the new one because of the screen. The text is much crisper!

What I do not like about the new one is how long it takes for the battery to charge!!

I love my ipad 2, but the new one is only a $100 more and well worth it !

Also, the new ipad has a much better camera...if you were considering using it lol..
