if you have both, trust me you will not use the ipad anymore after 1-2 weeks. just gets old since the macbook can do everything and more.

lol. if you have both, it is possible you will use both, depending on your usage. ever tried reading a book on the mba? how about taking handwritten notes on the mba?

For reading books you can read a physical book, and for handwritten notes you can either type them (which would be faster) or use a pen and paper.

 
I have a 13" MBA (i5/4GB RAM/128GB SSD) and an iPad 2 (64GB Wi-Fi). I use both equally throughout the day.
