Go for it!

I think you'll have no problem getting $425 for that ipad 3.

Yesterday I sold my Wifi only version for $430 on ebay.
Listed it as a "Buy It Now" and it sold in less than 30 minutes.

Go for it!

I bought the $829 lte iPad 3 on launch day. Also have iPad 4 64gb wifi.

Both my 1 year and 3 year old use both iPads. So I won't be selling my iPads.

Even if I wanted to. I probably couldn't get more than $425 for my iPad 3 LTE. Simply not worth it to sell for me. It will get another 12-18 months use out of it.

Young tots are hard on iPads. They dented the iPad 3 even with a good case. Than I got a gritthin military case and it's survived well.

I am getting iPad 5 for myself.

iPad 3 runs fine. I don't play any games. Kids use it for kiddie games and I use it for verizon unlimited data hotspot.

Best time to sell iPad 3 depends on model you had. Higher end models like mine have lost so much value it's not worth it unless you want to or need the money.

The best time to sell iPad 3 was before last years surprised iPad 4 announcement.

If you have iPad 3 base wifi model. Get rid of it now. Higher models will take a bigger hit the longer u wait.

LOL, same here dude!

This morning, I actually picked up a physical book. Hahaha!

I'm in straight-up withdrawals right now. It is going to be a long couple of weeks.

#firstworldproblems :)

$350 cash for a 32GB iPad 3. Is this a fair price or am I lowballing myself? I figure $350 is what I would get after fees if I went through eBay.

Sounds about right to me. Looks like many of them have gone in that general vicinity recently on ebay.

Make sure you sell it prior to the event next week, or that $350 will become $300 instantly.

Just put mine up on ebay with a $350 buy it now option. So sad :( but I keep telling myself that once I get another job I can buy a retina mini.

Pharmdoc I don't know for sure yet. I just got that box and shipping materials from them this past Saturday. Going to the Post Office tomorrow. Having said that, I googled the heck out of them and didn't find any negative reviews. This is my first time selling to them but they appear to be reputable and well established. I'm gonna give them a shot and see how it goes.

Thanks. There was another post about selling to ecyclebest and I believe they are actually another company called cash for laptops and they weren't getting the best reviews. Check them out.

That's a solid deal. I just sold my iPad3 32GB Wifi on eBay for $293. Granted it had two dented corners and the back was scratched up.

Were you trying to do some "damage test" with your iPad for YouTube or something? Sheesh

I am keeping my ipad 3 since it does everything fine for me, and buying the ipad mini 2. Maybe next year I'll upgrade my ipad 3. I just see little reason to upgrade...

The plan is for me to take the money from the ipad 3 and downgrade for now to a cheaper tablet. Anyone have recommendations? Nexus 7? Kindle Fire?

Then when I get a job back to retina mini.

I think the iPad 3 resale value has taken too much of hit because of the iPad 4. My plan is to give my iPad 3 64GB to my wife and then sell her iPad 2 16GB. Gazelle and others are offering $170 for it so it sounds like the resale value has bottomed-out.
I'm hoping for a Retina iPad mini. I like the idea of a lighter weight iPad so I may still consider the full-size iPad 5 if it weighs much less than the iPad 3.

I'm curious any recent iPad 3 32GB owners sell theirs on eBay what you get? I sold mine last week for $420 wondering if its held value there or dropped

Sold my ipad 3 64 GB for $350 on ebay. Think I got a good deal?

whoah see my post above looks like the value has plummeted fast, you might have had better luck via Craigslist

just sold my iPad 3 32gb Verizon for $380 via craigs list. I might have been able to squeeze out another $20 or $30 but it wasnt worth the hassle. The iPad 3 is the red headed step child and the market is bottoming out. I got a good 18 months of use out of it, bring on October 22nd!

I converted my iPad 3 to a Netflix/Plex/Hulu/HBO Go viewing station. I have a logitech speaker that still uses the 30 pin connector. So it's perfect for that and for when I fly and load it up with movies. Don't do anything else with it.

Guys did you cry like a baby when you sold your ipad? Because that's what I did. I guess it was because I had saved for so long to allow myself to finally buy an ipad, and when I finally sold it on ebay, it felt like the saddest experience. :(

I keep telling myself that when I get out of "funemployment" I'll be able to buy a retina mini but until then ... :(

I want to get a new iPad but I cant' sell mine now and wait weeks to get a new one. How much can I expect to get for my iPad 3 shortly after the iPad 5 is released?

It's a black, 16GB 3G model that I got refurb for $409. Seemed like a good deal at the time but it's too slow for me! Thanks to the Otterbox and screen protector it is still in perfect condition though, I even have the original box and accessories.

Is there any chance I will still be able to get $350 for it after the new iPad is released?

I highly doubt you'll get $350 for it after the iPad 5 is released. Your best chance is to sell it now, the longer you wait the more the value will be depreciate.

I think that selling a perfectly functional iPad 3 for less than half it's original price is simply wasting money. iPad 3 is by no means a crappy tablet compared to iPad 5 so why should I waste hundreds of euro/dollars to get the new one? If I had money enough "to roast a cow on it" -which is not the case- I'd probably do it, but that's another story. If you want the latest coolest iPad, it's perfectly fine, but that's luxury. I prefer to wait until I really feel I need something else.

What's the difference between buying iPad 3 for $500, using it for a few years until it is obsolete and worthless (can't sell a 4 year old iPad 1 for jack right now), and buying iPad 6 for $500 for a total of $1000 spent...

or...

buying iPad 3 for $500, selling it for $250 and buying iPad 5 for $250 more for a total of $750 spent. Then selling the iPad 5 after a year of use for $250 and buying an iPad 6 for $250 more for a total of $1000 spent.

In the second scenario you are spending just about the same amount of money but get to have a fast model for the gap in between. Where as just holding onto the iPad 3 you have to suffer the slowness towards the end until you get a new model.

Good point, but at this pace, I honestly expect my iPad to serve me reasonably well beyond iPad 6. I use my tablet for simple and not highly demanding tasks. On the other hand, if I sell it, I must have the extra 250 to buy the ipad 5. Yes, you will say that if I don't have the 250 now, neither will I have the 500 later. Who knows. I know what you mean, but for my needs it's a waste of energy, time and money having to change something I don't feel that needs to be changed.
