This is just wishful thinking for the people that are holding off for the iPad 3
COME ON!! We don't even know what the iPad 2 is going to bring yet. Also It doesn't make sense for Apple to Update the iPod and iPad at the same event.
By releasing the iPad around the January-April time frame gives apple the advantage to make a slight change in hardware before the keynote just to make the next-gen iPad better then the tablets we see at CES. I have been waiting over a year for an iPad and I am going to get the iPad 2 the day it comes out. I'm sick of waiting
I recall there was rumors about the iPad 2 coming out around fall also. Did it happen? No. This is the same case

"When you keep waiting for better technology you will never get the device you want, You will just keep waiting" (I made this up)

I don't know how you remain so patient. I decided a few weeks ago to get the Ipad (it's a Valentine's day gift) but waiting for the Ipad2 announcement is some strange type of torture. I am new to this and I want Apple to just bring it! I want that Ipad 64g and I want it now!!!! I have to give kudos to you avid Apple fans, I can barely take the torture, the apple giftcards are burning a hole in my pocket!!!! I just can't bring myself to go get one knowing a newer one with better specs is on the (near)horizon.

Sometimes I really don't like rumors. Honestly, I've decided I'm actually going to get an ipad and I probably won't wait for an ipad3, but I will wait for the ipad2. I just wish apple would hurry up and announce it so I'd know if it was worth it.

I'd like an ipad this summer and would love to take notes with it in class so I'll most likely be getting it. It just feels like a lot less pressure skateboarding to class with an ipad vs. my macbook pro.

I'm waiting to see what the iPad 2 brings, but if it's like this report say's (link: http://www.padgadget.com/2011/02/16...-a5-processor-ipad-2-will-come-with-older-a4/ ) then epic fail!
I guess I need to start looking closer at all the new dual core Androids coming or maybe just buy a used iPad for $200 or so, I hear Walmart is getting ready to markdown the iPad and all the accessories. There may not be enough of a difference between the original and iPad 2, shame I may have wasted months waiting for the second gen., only to be not worth the wait. :(

IF this happens, I doubt it's going to be a major revision, and more like an iPad 2 HD.

If there's some sense in this rumor, it's that the tablet battle is pretty heated right now, with many many competitors trying to get iPad derivates out their doors. In such a scenario, it makes sense to baffle everyone with yet a release this year to crush hopes of competing with Apple's strong brand in an early stage. If Apple would do an iPad 3 this year, I think that'd be to tell the industry to not even bother. Of course, they still will, but that would be the message.

Just look what happened at the time of iPad 2 when Samsung had to delay their forthcoming release, how the HP Android tablet is delayed, and how Google aren't ready to release the source code to Android Honeycomb yet.

It seems like Apple is setting the pace here, and it seems to be working. Each individual sale due to a competitor not able to catch up in time with those latest iPad's is a profit for Apple.

So it makes sense to keep a high pace, at least for such a strategically critical year as 2011.

Well, that's what I think anyway. :p

Although I tried not to succumb to the iPad 2, I ended up ordering one after someone offered to buy my 3G iPad.

And I have to admit that even if the iPad 3 is just a 6:9 HD iPad with 1GB of RAM, I will probably buy that, too. The iPad needs a little more memory to do some of the things people will expect it to do in the very near future, and we should break down and use the aspect ratio that are required for full screen movie viewing.

Apple has revolutionised computing with the initial iPad's release, and although the Xoom in particular seems to be providing stiff competition, I see Apple as a company that's changing quickly enough to stay ahead of the game.

If it happened it would be a much smaller size if it was to have retina. Bank on it.

Bank on it not happening too!

I just don't see it..

So the Ipad2 is not even launched in al countries yet - and people are still waiting on shipments from the US launch - the earliest UK deliveries are mid to end of April - so it really seems a little much to see another launch 5 months after this.

I just think it will really anger a lot of people and may actually put people off buying Apple products. Folks like to have a little bit of use from their devices before upgrading. I think Apple would be pushing it to release another so soon.
Plus - there's a lot of people who've bought contract 3G ipads who will be tied in for 12/24 months.

They won't get the lines and the excitement unless they wait a little longer. They can't supply enough ipad2's at the moment.

I do think however that people will just accept that each year they will buy a new Ipad as a part of being on the bleeding edge.

One of the great strengths of the Android Model is availability more up-to-date hardware, so this may be the only way Apple can respond to the impending slaughter.

Don't know if it will work though.

Why do you always have something negative to say? Apple is a great example of an American Company. Don't tread on that!!!

Because he's one of those angry, conspiratorial Tea-tards. They never have anything positive to say. Just look at his delusional profile.

It's inevitable that the iPad 3 will happen but honestly can't see it until next year. It gives them ample time to get the features in that they really wanted to put into the iPad 2.

Had a play on the iPad 2 today, TBH I don't think it brought anything different enough to warrant one. I don't have an iPad but do own an iPod Touch 4, one thing that it really needs is a retina display - once you get used to Retina, everything else looks like a blur. iOS 4.3.1 is butter smooth but would be nice for Apple to bring something a little bit more different for the iPad 3.

You need to read and understand Anandtech review of iPad2 ... the graphics engines blows Xoom away. They're already back in the redesign room..Xoom was designed to compete with ipad.

Two keys to tablets ... long battery life ... EZ to use ... and price ... not a reworked laptop ... customization ifs for the small in number geeks, not mainstream consumers. The world is going digital ... Read books, magazines, newspapers, go online, e-mails ... social sites, photo slide shows, games (lots of them), puzzles (lots of them) ... movies. The lines and demand for ipad is enormous.

Does not nor intended to replace your main computer or Laptop ... though many seem to want to do just that.

Add Zagg with keyboard and protective case ... turns ipad in to a beautiful blogging outfit.

No body even knows what iPad3 is ... won't be retina (thats for small screens needing zoom to see) ... takes too much power for that much ppi, thereby robbing performance for everything else. IMHO won't happen anytime soon (like 3 years when die sizes drop) ... but cost is a key issue for consumers. Keep wishing ... lots of that ... not much understanding.

So many posting portending to know something about marketing and competition ... most of it is wishful thinking with a lot of cut and paste thinking.
